It is a ground that has existed for more than 13 decades. With a capacity of 53583 people, the Adelaide Oval stands in seventh place. The first-ever international cricket match in this venue was played way back in the year 1884 when England defeated Australia by 8 wickets.

This ground has hosted 78 Tests, 85 ODIs, and 5 T20Is so far. The record for the highest team total in ODI cricket at this ground is held by Australia when they scored a gargantuan 369/7. It was also in this game that David Warner blasted a whirlwind 128 ball 179, and the left-hander holds the record for the highest individual score at this venue.

As far as Test cricket is concerned, Australia holds the record for the highest ever team total at this venue. The kangaroos scored 674 in the year 1948 against a hapless Indian side with Don Bradman leading the way with a double century. The highest individual score on this ground in Tests is once again held by David Warner. The left-hander scored 335* against Pakistan in 2019. This ground also holds the record for hosting the first-ever Day-Night Test match between Australia and New Zealand.

The Adelaide Oval is all set to host India’s Day-Night Test on Australian soil on 17th December 2020.
