3. Eden Gardens
This is an Indian stadium that absolutely needs no introduction. The Eden Gardens cricket stadium is the oldest and the most reputed cricket stadium in India. The stadium has a capacity of 80000 people. This stadium has witnessed some of the most iconic moments in Indian cricket, including the famous Test between India and Australia in the year 2001, when VVS Laxman conjured 281 to allow India to come back from the brink and beat the Australians.
The stadium has hosted 42 Tests, 30 ODI’s and 7 T20Is. The highest ever total by a team in Test cricket in this ground is 657/7 by India against the Aussies in 2001, and the highest individual score is by VVS Laxman. As far as ODI cricket is concerned, the highest ever team total is 404/5 by India against Sri Lanka in the year 2014. It was in this match that Rohit Sharma blasted a rampaging 264, and till date, it remains the highest ever total in ODI cricket history.
The stadium hosted its first-ever international match in the year 1934 when India played England. The match ended in a draw.
