Top 10 Leading ODI run-scorers in 2015: The year 2015 is prophesied as one of the most exciting years in world cricket. And why it wouldn’t be? 2015 is the year in which the ICC 50-over World Cup has been played on the land of Australia and New Zealand respectively. World Cup takes place on every subsequent 4 years and it is considered to be the battle for the ultimate glory that is to become the World Champions. Apart from World Cup, there have been many interesting bilateral and tri-series scheduled to be played this year.
Now, we are in the end days of the month of August. And until now we have witnessed abrupt dominance of the bat over the ball and now the standards of batsmenship have reached a sky-high level. There are many batsmen who have changed the dynamics of ODI cricket. Can anyone dare to forget AB de Villier’s fastest ton in ODI cricket? A feat which he achieved earlier this year against West Indies in as fewer as 31 deliveries. The World Cup saw many batters piling up records after records match after match.
It was their gallant batsmenship that in World Cup 2015 there were 3 scores of 400 plus runs. While on 26 occasions teams reached the 300 run mark. While two batsmen Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle crossed the 200 run mark which once was considered an invincible feat.
So we can profoundly say that this year till now has been an outright year in which batsmen have proved too hot to handle. And after the World Cup 2015, International Cricket Council (ICC) brought about many changes to bring back the bowlers in play. Scoring big runs on some occasions is good but ultimately it is consistency which makes a batsman indeed a valuable asset for the side.
There have been many consistent batters who have continued hammering runs and thereby have reached new level of consistency. They have played like champions and thus have made a cut in the list of Top 10 Leading ODI run-scorers in 2015.
Half of the list is flooded by the batsmen of the World Cup finalists New Zealand. There are two Proteas and Lankans respectively in the list with one spot being bagged by a Bangladeshi player.
It isn’t an asking task to list out those names as it is easier to know the performers who stand taller than the rest. Many of these names must have popped up in your head by this time.
