Top 10 leading run-scorers in the IPL: Since its inception in 2008, Indian Premier League has been a big success and laid a path for formation of leagues in other countries. The Indian dashing batsman Virender Sehwag proved his worth in the league where he continued his natural game play. Sehwag, who played for his home side Delhi Daredevils in first six seasons moved to Kings XI Punjab where he turned even more dangerous. Sehwag was among the very few players who scored more than one century in the league’s history. He also scored 16 fifties on 104 innings he batted in which he scored 2728 runs. He could have scored at an average of 27.55 only but he has a brilliant striking rate of 155.44.

9. David Warner &#8211; 2819 Runs

David Warner the attacking Sunrisers Hyderabad opener has been in prime touch throughout the IPL. He first starred for the Delhi Daredevils. Warner then moved to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has played 88 matches in the IPL and has 2819 runs with the help of 27 half-centuries &amp; 2 centuries at an average of 36.61.

8. AB de Villiers &#8211; 2839 runs

The South African star batsman showed up his run consistency in the IPL in all the editions he played. He played for Delhi Daredevils in first three seasons before moving to Royal Challengers Bangalore for the next five seasons he played. In total, he managed to score 2839 runs in 98 innings at a modest average of 37.85 at a striking rate of 146.94. His IPL career includes 18 half centuries and 2 centuries with his highest score being 133*.

7 &#8211; MS Dhoni: 3074 runs

Indian Captain MS Dhoni has done a similar job with the bat for his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings finishing of many crucial games for his team. In the 120 innings Dhoni came out to bat, he remained unbeaten on 42 occasions. He scored 3074 runs at a brilliant average of 39.41 and an amazing striking rate of 139.34 including 15 fifties with a best of 70*. 

6. Robin Uthappa: 3130 runs

The young Indian batsman Robin Uthappa has put on a consistency show for all the teams he has played in the league. He played for Mumbai Indians in the first season and later played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the next two before moving to Pune Warriors India. After Pune was scraped, he is playing for Kolkata Knight Riders since 2014, in which he was the top scorer and became the only 2nd Indian player to get the Orange Cap. He scored 3130 runs in 120 innings at an average of 29.80 with 15 fifties at a striking rate of 127.65.

5. Chris Gayle: 3200 runs

When he returned in 2011 for Royal Challengers Bangalore, he set new limits for himself. He created his storms everywhere he played. As a result, he was the Orange cap holder in 2011 and 2012. He also recorded the highest individual score in T20 history in IPL only. He scored 3200 runs in just 83 innings at a magnificent average of 45.71 at a thunderous striking rate of 152.96 with 5 unbelievable centuries and 18 fifties.

The South African star batsman showed up his run consistency in the IPL in all the editions he played. He played for Delhi Daredevils in first three seasons before moving to Royal Challengers Bangalore for the next five seasons he played. In total, he managed to score 2839 runs in 98 innings at a modest average of 37.85 at a striking rate of 146.94. His IPL career includes 18 half centuries and 2 centuries with his highest score being 133*.

7 &#8211; MS Dhoni: 3074 runs

Indian Captain MS Dhoni has done a similar job with the bat for his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings finishing of many crucial games for his team. In the 120 innings Dhoni came out to bat, he remained unbeaten on 42 occasions. He scored 3074 runs at a brilliant average of 39.41 and an amazing striking rate of 139.34 including 15 fifties with a best of 70*. 
6. Robin Uthappa: 3130 runs

The young Indian batsman Robin Uthappa has put on a consistency show for all the teams he has played in the league. He played for Mumbai Indians in the first season and later played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the next two before moving to Pune Warriors India. After Pune was scraped, he is playing for Kolkata Knight Riders since 2014, in which he was the top scorer and became the only 2nd Indian player to get the Orange Cap. He scored 3130 runs in 120 innings at an average of 29.80 with 15 fifties at a striking rate of 127.65.

5. Chris Gayle: 3200 runs

Came into party from 2011 season but it was never late for Chris Gayle. Played for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2nd and 3rd seasons but failed to make his mark. When he returned in 2011 for Royal Challengers Bangalore, he set new limits for himself. He created his storms everywhere he played. As a result, he was the Orange cap holder in 2011 and 2012. He also recorded the highest individual score in T20 history in IPL only. He scored 3200 runs in just 83 innings at a magnificent average of 45.71 at a thunderous striking rate of 152.96 with 5 unbelievable centuries and 18 fifties.

4. Gautam Gambhir: 3370 runs

Gambhir, who moved to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 after playing for Delhi Daredevils in first three seasons, stood at third in top run scorers list. He turned tables for KKR since his inception with bat and captaincy leading his side to two trophies. He scored 3370 runs at an average of 31.20 with 28 fifties in it, equally the highest number in the league with the best score of 93.

3. Virat Kohli &#8211; 3504 runs

India’s Mr. Consistent was one of the very few players who played the all their IPL editions for the same team as he provided his services for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He had a few rusty seasons at the start but when he was at the top form for the national side, he turned to be a nightmare for bowlers in this league also. He scored 3504 runs in 120 innings at a good average of 35.04 with 22 fifties and a striking rate of 126.68.

India’s talented batsman, Rohit Sharma had a consistent run with bat in the IPL so far. He had been a good source for every team from the first season itself. He was so good that he was among the top scorers in the first season despite of his team Deccan Chargers ended at the bottom of the table. He played a crucial role with the bat when his sides Deccan Chargers in 2009 and Mumbai Indians in 2013 went on to grab titles. His least successful season was in 2014 where he managed to score even about 350 runs. In overall, Rohit scored 3615 runs at an average of 33.16 which has 27 fifties and a century. 
1 &#8211; Suresh Raina: 3873 runs

Suresh Raina, is not only the leading run scorer in IPL history but also the highest run scoring India in overall T20 format. He was the most consistent player in the league, as he never failed to score less than 400 runs in the first 7 seasons. His least successful season was 2012 where he managed to score at an average of 25.94. He has a unique feature of never missing a game for his IPL side, Chennai Super Kings. He is the only player to score more than 3800 runs in the IPL history. Raina scored 3873 runs at an average of 34.27 at a brilliant striking rate of 139.56 with 26 fifties and a century.
