The 9th edition of the IPL saw as many as 635 sixes being hit. Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli was the chief destroyer of the ball as he hit the most number of sixes, with 38 sixes to his name. After losing the tournament opener to the Rising Pune Supergiants, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma made sure that his side emerged victorious the next time that they met at Pune. Rohit’s unbeaten 85 saw Mumbai Indians thump RPS by 8 wickets. En route his juggernaut innings, Rohit hammered Rajat Bhatia for a 104m six that sailed deep into the stands.

Manan Vohra showed a lot of promise in the early part of the tournament when he started off with promising starts. It was during the 3rd match of the season when Vohra gave a flying start to the Kings with his 23-ball 38 at Mohali. When the local boy Sarabjit Ladda, playing for the Gujarat Lions, came to the bowling crease, Vohra welcomed him with a big six downtown that measured 105m.

It was during Delhi’s innings when Sanju Samson hit a maximum over long on boundary off the bowling of Harbhajan Singh in the 12th over of the match. The 9th edition of the IPL saw as many as 635 sixes being hit. Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli was the chief destroyer of the ball as he hit the most number of sixes, with 38 sixes to his name. While the sixes were many, there were a few that were huge and went into the orbits. Here are the top 10 longest sixes of IPL 2016:

After losing the tournament opener to the Rising Pune Supergiants, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma made sure that his side emerged victorious the next time that they met at Pune. Rohit’s unbeaten 85 saw Mumbai Indians thump RPS by 8 wickets. En route his juggernaut innings, Rohit hammered Rajat Bhatia for a 104m six that sailed deep into the stands.

<h4>9. Manan Vohra (KXIP) – 105m v GL:</h4>

Manan Vohra showed a lot of promise in the early part of the tournament when he started off with promising starts. It was during the 3rd match of the season when Vohra gave a flying start to the Kings with his 23-ball 38 at Mohali. When the local boy Sarabjit Ladda, playing for the Gujarat Lions, came to the bowling crease, Vohra welcomed him with a big six downtown that measured 105m.

<h4>8. Yuvraj Singh (SRH) – 107m v RCB:</h4>

The stage was set for the big finals between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was Yuvraj Singh, who rose to the occasion and clobbered a biggie off the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal in the 15th over. Yuvraj hit 107m over long off. He finished with the score of 38 off 23 balls and played a crucial knock for his side on the day when it mattered.

<h4>7. Shane Watson (RCB) – 108m v RPS:</h4>

Shane Watson clobbered the Rising Pune Supergiants bowlers for 36 runs in just 13 balls. He hit Rajat Bhatia for a maximum that went over the ropes for 108m in the 15th over. RCB were chasing a mammoth 192 to win and the cameo from Watson was the perfect launch pad for skipper Virat Kohli to go berserk later in the innings.

<h4>6. Ambati Rayudu (MI) – 108m v RCB:</h4>

The Mumbai Indians were set a target of 152 to win by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Ambati Rayudu was promoted at number 3 in the run chase. It was in the 10th over of the innings, and Rayudu was batting on 33 from 36 balls. Varun Aaron was the bowler, who bowled a length ball. Rayudu obliged and hit a straight six over the bowler’s head for a 108m six.

<h4>5. Glenn Maxwell (KXIP) – 108m v RPS:</h4>

Glenn Maxwell hit a brilliant 32 off just 14 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours to seal the game for Kings XI Punjab against the Rising Pune Supergiants. The Kings chased down 152 for the win. It was towards the end of the run chase when Maxwell hit Ravichandran Ashwin over the long on boundary for a 108m long six.

<h4>4. Sanju Samson (DD) – 108m v MI:</h4>

Delhi Daredevils won a narrow game by just 10 runs against the Mumbai Indians in the league stages. It was during Delhi’s innings when Sanju Samson hit a maximum over long on boundary off the bowling of Harbhajan Singh in the 12th over of the match. The six went for a distance of 108m and hit the cameras in the stands. A truly belligerent hit by the young man it was.

<h4>3. Shane Watson (RCB) – 109m v RPS:</h4>

Shane Watson’s cameo of 13-ball 36 saw Royal Challengers Bangalore overhaul the mighty target of 191 set by the Rising Pune Supergiants. In the process, he hit Rajat Bhatia for a mighty 109m six off the bowling of Rajat Bhatia in the 15th over of the run chase. The six marked the beginning of an absolute massacre that Kohli and Watson led thereafter to see RCB win by 7 wickets.

<h4>2. AB de Villiers (RCB) – 109m v SRH:</h4>

It was during the league stages of the IPL 2016 when the eventual finalists Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore were engaged in yet another exciting battle. AB de Villiers hit his longest six of the season that went over the fences for 109m six. AB de Villiers was second on the list of players who hit most sixes in the season with 37 sixes to his name. He was next to Virat Kohli’s tally of 38 sixes.

<h4>1. Ben Cutting (SRH) – 117m v RCB:</h4>

The big finals was the occasion when the all-rounder from Australia, Ben Cutting, slaughtered a waist high full toss out of the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Cutting played a handy cameo for Sunrisers Hyderabad that propelled the score to a winning 208. It was the 19th over of the match and his fellow Australian Shane Watson bowled a full toss. Cutting took very less time to send it packing out of the park for a 117m maximum. He ended up scoring 39 off just 15 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes.
