Top 10 Longest sixes of the Indian Premier League (IPL): “This is outta the stadium” or it’s a Yes Bank maximum” are the phrases everyone who watches the Indian Premier League loves to hear. IPL is all about scoring big and quick, and the best possible way for a batsmen to score fast is hit a six. And since this has become a habit and a routine affair now, gradually the sixes now travel not only over the ropes but some of them are monstrous hits and travel many a miles. So here we have for you the list of the Top 10 longest sixes in IPL. 10. Chris Gayle – 111m: Chris Gayle – 111m. He pitched it right in front of his pads and Gayle hits it over long on and cleared the boundary comfortably. The ball landed 111m far. 9. MS Dhoni – 112m: MS Dhoni. Mahi hit a ball from James Franklin in the best manner that he knows, in the air and straight down the wicket. The full-length delivery by the NZ speedster was lofted with ease over the long on area and it cleared the ropes and traveled 112m. 8. Rohit Sharma – 115m: Rohit Sharma played a blinder in the last over for Deccan Chargers and in the process he hit a low full toss over the long on fielder in the last over of Mashrafe Mortaza in the second season of IPL and the ball went as far as 115m. Rohit is known for the lazy elegance with which he hits mega sixes with minimum effort and utmost ease. 7. Gautam Gambhir – 117m: The KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir was in an aggressive mindset and making his intentions clear, marched down the pitch even before S Sreesanth delivered the ball. The left-handed slashed the ball and hit it past the square leg fence for a maximum. The ball went quite far and was calculated to 117m. 6. Adam Gilchrist – 122m: South Africa’s Langeveldt paid the price for slipping in a slower one to the Punjab skipper, Adam Gilchrist. The left-hander from Australia read the slower one early and positioned himself perfectly to treat it; hit it with lot of might and timed this shot over the mid-wicket region for a maximum which went 122m. 2. He hit this six off one of the best death bowlers, Lasith Malinga. Malinga fired in with a Yorker expecting to get the tail ender out, but Praveen made room for himself and hit the ball right over the long off region for a huge 124m six. 1. Albie Morkel – 125m: This 125m long blow by South African all-rounder Albie Morkel is the longest six in IPL so far, it came in the inaugural season and continues to be the furthest hit six till date. Pragyan Ojha bowled a flighted delivery and Albie pounced upon it and slogged it over the mid- wicket region. The left-hander hit this areal shot and the ball went too far to be traced.
