Top 10 lowest team totals in Tests in the last 10 years: Cricket is a sport which is embodied as a batsmen’s game. But, there is a saying that the real test of the character takes place in longer format of the game. Test matches are won by taking 20 wickets for which bowlers are utterly responsible. And when bowlers blow fire on the 22 yards, the batters are left reeling facing the heat. In the last 10 years, on numerous occasions we have been enthralled when bowlers have dismantled the opponent team in Tests and only the game had grown wealthier with such jaw-dropping performances. In 2010, Pakistan became the victim in the 1st innings at Birmingham when the duo shared 8 wickets among them in a hostile spell of seam bowling to which Pakistani batsmen had no answer. But they got bundled out for 68 runs only as Stuart Broad ran through their innings in an intimidating spell of seam bowling. Broad ended the innings with immaculate figures of 7/44 which left the New Zealand batsmen in a state of abject oblivious. England flattened the Kiwis by 170 runs. 8. The Sri Lankan bowlers blew away the Bangladeshi batters in the 1st innings as the M factor of Malinga and Muralitharan accumulated 8 wickets. Barring Rajin Saleh, no other batsmen could cross the double figure mark. After horrific 1st innings, Bangladesh could never recover and they lost the match by an innings and 90 runs. 7. The Australian team got all out in 111 balls for a mere score of 60 runs. Stuart Broad transpired to the best figures of 8/15 at Trent Bridge. The inability of the Aussie batsmen to fight out the early demons of the pitch was fully exploited by Broad as he hardly missed his lengths which were flawless. But, Zimbabwe batters got bundled out for a mere total of 59 runs in the 1st innings at Harare. Half of the Zimbabwean’s couldn’t even open their account. On the same Napier pitch on which the Kiwis batted with ease, the visitors were swayed away on 51 runs in their 1st innings. Chris Martin, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell and Tim Southee took 2 wickets each. The New Zealand team punctured the Zimbabwean side by an innings and 301 runs. 4. But, when the English side came to bat in the 2nd innings, they put up a horrid performance with the bat. The wrath of Jerome Taylor and Sulieman Benn proved too hot to handle for them as they routed the visitors comprehensively. West Indies won the match by an innings and 23 runs. 3. At Johannesburg in 2013, Pakistan was on the receiving end when Steyn Gun bombarded them with his fiery spell of fast bowling in which he secured figures of 6/8. It was an exhibition of one of the greatest spells of the past decade. After the poor 1st innings total, Pakistan could never stage a comeback in the match and Proteas flattened the Pakistan’s by 211 runs. 2. The South African bowlers wrecked the Australian’s and at one time they were left reeling at 21-9. But, it was lion hearted batting of Nathan Lyon (14) who saved their nose from the embarrassing feat of the lowest Test match score. South Africa won the match by 8 wickets. 1. The swinging rippers of Vernon Philander proved too much for the visitors. Philander ended the first innings with glorious figures of 5/7 as New Zealand got all-out for 45 runs in 19.3 overs.
