Virat Kohli displayed splendid form round the tournament as he rose to the occasion almost every time, India needed something special from him. His innings of 55 (37)* against Pakistan and 82 (51)* against Australia came when India were in a spot of bother and both the times he took India home singlehandedly. He also smashed 89 from 47 balls against the Windies in the semis which India lost unfortunately. He was eventually declared the Player of the tournament.
