T20 is fast and adventurous. Fans love it. Since its inception in 2005, it has slowly grown into a giant format which has become a staple for many new age cricket fans. It’s an aggressive brand of cricket which is usually considered as a young man’s game. However, this is not a true fact. There has been a list of cricketers who have defied age and played this format with success. “Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter” is a popular quote in the field of sports. Here are the oldest cricketers to have featured in a T20I.
10. Trent Johnston – 39y 215d (Ireland):
The former Ireland captain has been a great contributor to game in the country. He made his ODI debut against Scotland in Belfast in 2008 and play till 2013. Johnston has also led his team in the 2009 and 2012 World T20s. The right-arm medium pacer’s career stretched 30 T20Is in which he scored 249 runs and took 32 wickets. He played his last T2oI against Afghanistan in 2013 at the age of 39 years and 215 days. It was a memorable one for him as he scored his first and the only half-century of his T20 career that match.
