But how often does a player score a fifty in his career, depends solely on form and class. Here are the players with most 50 plus scores in international cricket.

The former Indian skipper has 145 scores of 50 and above in international cricket. Ganguly represented India in 424 matches overall and has amassed 18,575 runs in his career. He played 113 Tests and has 16 centuries to his name to go along with 35 half centuries. If compared he performed better in the limited-overs format as he has 22 centuries in ODIs along with 72 half centuries. Dada, as he is popularly known has the highest score of 239 that came against Pakistan in a Test match at Bangalore in 2007-08.

The West Indian legend, Brian Lara, has the record for highest individual score in Test cricket, an innings of 400*. Lara is one of the three players to have scored 2 triple hundreds in Tests. He played 430 matches (131 Tests and 299 ODIs) for West Indies in his 17-year-long career. He scored 111 fifties and 53 centuries in international cricket. Lara posted 11,953 runs in Tests and 10,495 runs in ODIs. 34 out of his 53 international centuries came in Tests, a format where he averaged 52.88.

In his career, he remained unbeaten on 94 occasions and maintained an overall average of 45.72. His combined international stats are staggering as he played 664 matches, the most by any player, scored 34,357 runs, again the most by any player, and has 100 international 100s, yet again the most by any player in the history of the game. Sachin played 200 Tests for India and scored 51 centuries and 68 half centuries at an average of 53.78. With 463 ODIs under his belt, the most capped player in the history of the game, Sachin has 18,426 runs which include&nbsp;49 tons and 96 half centuries. His tally of 49 tons in ODIs, 51 tons in Tests and 96 half centuries in ODIs are all world records.</p>

But how often does a player score a fifty in his career, depends solely on form and class. Here are the players with most 50 plus scores in international cricket.</p>
<h4><strong>10. Sourav Ganguly (India) – 145:</strong></h4>

<p>The former Indian skipper has 145 scores of 50 and above in international cricket. Ganguly represented India in 424 matches overall and has amassed 18,575 runs in his career. He played 113 Tests and has 16 centuries to his name to go along with 35 half centuries. If compared he performed better in the limited-overs format as he has 22 centuries in ODIs along with 72 half centuries. Dada, as he is popularly known has the highest score of 239 that came against Pakistan in a Test match at Bangalore in 2007-08.</p>

<p>The West Indian legend, Brian Lara, has the record for highest individual score in Test cricket, an innings of 400*. Lara is one of the three players to have scored 2 triple hundreds in Tests. He played 430 matches (131 Tests and 299 ODIs) for West Indies in his 17-year-long career. He scored 111 fifties and 53 centuries in international cricket. Lara posted 11,953 runs in Tests and 10,495 runs in ODIs. 34 out of his 53 international centuries came in Tests, a format where he averaged 52.88.</p>

<p>The former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who represented Pakistan in 120 Tests, 378 ODIs, and one T20I, has 164 scores of 50 and above in his career. Inzamam has 83 half centuries to his name in the ODIs to go along with 10 tons and the best of 137*. While he averaged close to 40 in ODIs, his average rose to almost 50 in Tests. He has 25 centuries and 46 half-centuries in Tests which include the career best score of 329 against New Zealand.</p>

<p>Perhaps one of the greatest batsmen from the Caribbean in the modern era, who played largely in the shadows of Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul played 164 Tests and 268 ODIs, a total of 454 international matches. In his career, he remained unbeaten on 94 occasions and maintained an overall average of 45.72. With 125 fifties and 41 tons to his name, he has definitely proved to be a solid batsman for the West Indies cricket for a long time. Chanderpaul after being ignored by the Board for a while recently announced his retirement.</p>

<p>The Sri Lankan batting legend, who recently retired from all forms of the game, Mahela Jayawardene has been the mainstay of Sri Lankan batting along with Kumar Sangakkara for over a decade. Jayawardene, with 34 hundreds and 50 fifties in 149 matches, scored 11,814 runs at an average of 49.84 with the top score of a gigantic 374 in Tests. His overall stats in international cricket across all formats is even more phenomenal. Having played 652 matches, next to only Sachin Tendulkar’s 664 matches, Jayawardene has 190 scores of fifty and above. This includes 54 centuries and 136 half centuries.</p>

<p>The Wall of Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid, has played 509 international matches (164 Tests, 344 ODIs and 1 T20I) to register 194, 50-plus scores. Dravid had a remarkable international debut in a Test at the Lord’s where he scored 95 runs. Dravid has 36 hundreds in Tests and 12 ODI tons. While his consistency can be marked by his centuries in Tests, his performances in the ODIs can be judged by the 83 half centuries that he has scored in 344 ODIs. He has 63 half-centuries in Tests. Dravid had a great conversion rate from 50 to 100 in Tests and averaged over 52 in Test cricket.</p>

<p>Undoubtedly the greatest all-rounder of his era, South African middle-order batsman Jacques Kallis represented the Proteas on 519 occasions in international cricket to come up with 211, 50-plus scores. His overall average is the best in this list of top 10 with 49.10. He amassed 25,534 runs in international cricket across all formats and has 62 centuries and 149 half centuries under his belt. In his long illustrious career, Kallis was often the go-to man for the team and that is evident from the fact that he has remained unbeaten on 97 occasions in his career.</p>

With 134 Tests, 404 ODIs, and 56 T20Is, a combined total of 594 international matches, Sangakkara had been the pillar stone of Sri Lankan cricket. He has 38 centuries and 52 half centuries in Tests at an average close to 58. His performances have been blistering in ODIs too, as he has 25 centuries and 93 half centuries to his name in 50 overs cricket with 14,234 runs. The legend has left his imprint on the shortest format of the game as well and scored 8 T20I fifties.</p>

With 27,483 runs in international cricket, Ponting has 41 Test centuries to his name, the most by any Australian player. He has 62 fifties to go with his 41 Test tons. His greatest strength lied in the fact that he could switch well between the different formats of the game. He has scored 82 fifties and 30 hundreds in ODIs at an average of 42.03. He has two fifties in the T20Is as well which includes his top score of an unbeaten 98 against New Zealand, a match that was the first ever T20 international match played in 2005.</p>
