From 1987-2003, Carl Hooper was an important member of the West Indies squad. The Caribbean side won a lot of games for his team in his vast career with his bat. In the past, cricketing legends such as Wasim Akram and Shane Warne praised Hooper for his efficient batting style.

The former West Indies batter delivered his services to the West Indies team for sixteen years and piled up more than 11,000 runs as a batter. From December 6, 1997, to February 23, 2003, he scored 4,318 runs in 103 matches without getting out for a duck even once.

On February 28, 2003, he failed to show up with his bat scoring zero in the crucial game against Sri Lanka in the 2003 World Cup. With this disappointing appearance, he got out on a duck after playing 122 innings for the West Indies for almost five and a half years. The Windies team later also lost that game by a close margin of six runs.
