The way West Indies started, none would have given a chance to the hosts then. Chris Gayle’s thundering 117 off 57 balls saw West Indies post 205/6 in 20 overs.

However, South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs has the knack of overpowering brilliant knocks in historic run chases. Gibbs was at his best again as he struck an unbeaten 90 off just 55 balls to see his side over the line in just 17.4 overs. Justin Kemp’s 22-ball 46 surely helped the cause.

After having lost the first T20I of the 2 match series, the hosts India were underfire to win at Mohali. Sri Lanka opted to bat first and skipper Sangakkara’s well composed 31 ball 59 saw Sri Lanka post a over par total of 206/7 in their 20 overs. The lower order provided the momentum to the visitors.

India started off well with Virender Sehwag plundering 64 off 36 balls. However, the partnership that won the match for India was between skipper MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. Dhoni scored a fine 46 off 28 but was unlucky not to see India over the line.

Yuvraj Singh continued to bat along and ensured India eased past the target with 5 balls to spare. Yuvi scored 60 off just 25 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes. India finished with 211/4 and that gave a cumulative of 417 runs in the match.

It was the do or die match for India in the group stages of the inaugural edition of the ICC World T20. India, after having lost to New Zealand in their first group game, needed to win their remaining matches to stay alive in the competition. Openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag struck half centuries to give a solid start.

However, it was the Yuvraj Singh show that took all the limelight. The stylish southpaw hit 6 sixes in an over off the bowling of Stuart Broad to score the fastest T20 fifty – in 12 balls. India put on a gigantic total of 218 runs on the board. England were always in the chase with cameos from all their batsmen.

They all got starts but none could cross the 50-run mark. They ended up with 200/6 in their 20 overs as they lost by 18 runs. India eventually went on to win the tournament and lifted the trophy.<br>

The trans-Tasmanian rivalry saw one of the greatest T20 match being played at Christchurch in February 2010. New Zealand rallied along the power hitting of Brendon McCullum. The Kiwi opener scored 116 off just 57 balls. The highlight of his innings was the way he squatted down on one leg and hit Shaun Tait for sixes over the wicket keeper’s head.

New Zealand posted a huge 214/6 in their 20 overs. Australia saw contributions from their middle order. Brad Haddin started off with 47 runs. Michael Clarke and Cameron White struck fifties as Australia equalled the Kiwi score of 214/4 in 20 overs. The dramatic tie saw a super over being bowled to determine the winner.

It was the host side that came up on top in the superover. Australia could score just 6 runs in the superover. The kiwis chased it down in just 4 deliveries.

It was the first T20I game of the 2-match series between Sri Lanka and Australia at Pallekele. Hosts won the toss and sent Australia to bat first. Glenn Maxwell opened the batting for the first time in his T20I career for Australia as he went on to register his highest individual score in the shortest format.

Australia posted the record total of 263/3 in 20 overs going past Sri Lanka&#8217;s 260/6 against Kenya. Glenn Maxwell&#8217;s knock of unbeaten 145 runs came in just 65 deliveries with 14 fours &amp; 9 sixes at a strike-rate of 223.

Coming into the second innings, Mitchell Starc started his first over with a wicket sending back Dilshan. Lankans just managed to score 178/9 in 20 overs, losing the game by 85 runs. A total of 441 runs were scored in the game.

During Australia’s tour to England in 2013, the crowds at Southampton witnessed an absolute run fest. It was the first T20I and the star of the show was none other than the Aussie opener Aaron Finch. Finch singlehandedly stormed Australia to a mighty total of 248 in 20 overs. Finch scored a record breaking 156 off just 63 balls. The second highest scorer in the innings was Shane Watson, with 37 runs to his name.

England were rocked early by Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Johnson, and were reduced 42/4. However, it was Joe Root’s classy 90 off 49 balls that kept the hosts interested for a brief while. In the group stage match between England and South Africa in the ICC World T20 2016, England rose to the occasion at the Wankhede stadium to register the biggest run chase in the history of T20 world cups. South Africa rode on fiery start by their openers &#8211; Quinton de Kock (52 off 24 balls) and Hashim Amla (58 off 31 balls). Duminy’s 28-ball 54 and David Miller’s 12-ball 28 provided the late fireworks in the innings as South Africa posted a humongous 229/4 in 20 overs.

England were in no mood to give up though. English openers Jason Roy and Alex Hales started off on an aggressive note. Hales couldn’t make it big but Roy scored 43 off just 16 balls. It was Joe Root’s 44 ball 83 that helped England register a record run chase as they finished on 230/8 with 2 balls to spare. As many as 459 runs were scored in the match.

The win helped England stay alive in the competition as they had lost their previous game to West Indies. England went on to make it to the finals of the tournament. However, they ended up losing to the same side – the West Indies.

West Indies overhauled a mighty target of 231 set by South Africa in the 2<sup>nd</sup> T20I of their tour to South Africa in 2015/16. West Indies had put South Africa in to bat after winning the toss. However, skipper Darren Sammy was seen wanting for bowling options as South African batsmen hammered the West Indies attack.

The wrecker-in-chief was skipper Faf du Plessis, who marshaled along with a brilliant 59-ball ton. A cameo from David Miller (47 off 26 balls) saw South Africa post a mammoth 231/7 on the board. West Indies did not give up though. Despite losing Dwayne Smith early, the big Jamaican Chris Gayle rose to the occasion with a blitzkrieg 41-ball 90. Samuels scored 60 off 39 balls.

India played their first ever T20I match in the United States at the iconic Lauderhill Stadium at Florida. The match marked Carlos Brathwaite’s first ever match as the West Indies skipper. The match started with West Indies openers, Evin Lewis and Johnson Charles, plundering the Indian bowling lineup with no mercy. Charles went back to the dugout after his 33-ball 79. Evin Lewis went on to score a brilliant century that propelled West Indies to a total of 245/6 in their 20 overs.

India lost Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli cheaply in their run chase. However, Rohit Sharma had other plans. Rohit Sharma found an able partner in KL Rahul and the duo raced past their 50-run stand in just 22 balls and thereby getting India back in the game. Sharma was sent back after scoring 62 in 28 balls. KL Rahul continued to bat with flair and elegance to notch up his maiden T20I ton while skipper Dhoni scored a breezy 25-ball 43.

However, India couldn’t ease past the target. Needing 2 to win off the last ball, skipper Dhoni perished on a slower one by Dwayne Bravo and India were left stranded on 244/4 in their 20 overs. The match saw an aggregate of 489 runs scored and as many as 32 sixes were hit.

<p>It was the first T20I game of the 2-match series between Sri Lanka and Australia at Pallekele. Hosts won the toss and sent Australia to bat first. Glenn Maxwell opened the batting for the first time in his T20I career for Australia as he went on to register his highest individual score in the shortest format.</p>
<p>Australia posted the record total of 263/3 in 20 overs going past Sri Lanka’s 260/6 against Kenya. Glenn Maxwell’s knock of unbeaten 145 runs came in just 65 deliveries with 14 fours &amp; 9 sixes at a strike-rate of 223.</p>
<p>Coming into the second innings, Mitchell Starc started his first over with a wicket sending back Dilshan. Lankans just managed to score 178/9 in 20 overs, losing the game by 85 runs. A total of 441 runs were scored in the game.</p>

<p>During Australia’s tour to England in 2013, the crowds at Southampton witnessed an absolute run fest. It was the first T20I and the star of the show was none other than the Aussie opener Aaron Finch. Finch singlehandedly stormed Australia to a mighty total of 248 in 20 overs. Finch scored a record breaking 156 off just 63 balls. The second highest scorer in the innings was Shane Watson, with 37 runs to his name.</p>

<p>In the group stage match between England and South Africa in the ICC World T20 2016, England rose to the occasion at the Wankhede stadium to register the biggest run chase in the history of T20 world cups. South Africa rode on fiery start by their openers – Quinton de Kock (52 off 24 balls) and Hashim Amla (58 off 31 balls). Duminy’s 28-ball 54 and David Miller’s 12-ball 28 provided the late fireworks in the innings as South Africa posted a humongous 229/4 in 20 overs.</p>
<p>England were in no mood to give up though. English openers Jason Roy and Alex Hales started off on an aggressive note. Hales couldn’t make it big but Roy scored 43 off just 16 balls. It was Joe Root’s 44 ball 83 that helped England register a record run chase as they finished on 230/8 with 2 balls to spare. As many as 459 runs were scored in the match.</p>
<p>The win helped England stay alive in the competition as they had lost their previous game to West Indies. England went on to make it to the finals of the tournament. However, they ended up losing to the same side – the West Indies.</p>

<p>West Indies overhauled a mighty target of 231 set by South Africa in the 2<sup>nd</sup> T20I of their tour to South Africa in 2015/16. West Indies had put South Africa in to bat after winning the toss. However, skipper Darren Sammy was seen wanting for bowling options as South African batsmen hammered the West Indies attack.</p>
<p>The wrecker-in-chief was skipper Faf du Plessis, who marshaled along with a brilliant 59-ball ton. A cameo from David Miller (47 off 26 balls) saw South Africa post a mammoth 231/7 on the board. West Indies did not give up though. Despite losing Dwayne Smith early, the big Jamaican Chris Gayle rose to the occasion with a blitzkrieg 41-ball 90. Samuels scored 60 off 39 balls.</p>

<p>India played their first ever T20I match in the United States at the iconic Lauderhill Stadium at Florida. The match marked Carlos Brathwaite’s first ever match as the West Indies skipper. The match started with West Indies openers, Evin Lewis and Johnson Charles, plundering the Indian bowling lineup with no mercy. Charles went back to the dugout after his 33-ball 79. Evin Lewis went on to score a brilliant century that propelled West Indies to a total of 245/6 in their 20 overs.</p>
<p>India lost Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli cheaply in their run chase. However, Rohit Sharma had other plans. Rohit Sharma found an able partner in KL Rahul and the duo raced past their 50-run stand in just 22 balls and thereby getting India back in the game. Sharma was sent back after scoring 62 in 28 balls. KL Rahul continued to bat with flair and elegance to notch up his maiden T20I ton while skipper Dhoni scored a breezy 25-ball 43.</p>
<p>However, India couldn’t ease past the target. Needing 2 to win off the last ball, skipper Dhoni perished on a slower one by Dwayne Bravo and India were left stranded on 244/4 in their 20 overs. The match saw an aggregate of 489 runs scored and as many as 32 sixes were hit.</p>

<p>When India played West Indies in a historic match at Lauderhill Stadium, Florida, a new world record was created. The match saw India losing by just 1 run and surely was one of the most entertaining games of the recent times. While the bowlers had a tough time in the middle, the pitch was an absolute batsmen delight. This was the first instance in a T20I when there was a century scored in each inning.</p>

<p>The excitement was on the rise as it was the first match of the inaugural edition of the T20 World cup. Hosts South Africa took on West Indies at Johannesburg. The way West Indies started, none would have given a chance to the hosts then. Chris Gayle’s thundering 117 off 57 balls saw West Indies post 205/6 in 20 overs.</p>
<p>However, South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs has the knack of overpowering brilliant knocks in historic run chases. Gibbs was at his best again as he struck an unbeaten 90 off just 55 balls to see his side over the line in just 17.4 overs. Justin Kemp’s 22-ball 46 surely helped the cause.</p>

<p>After having lost the first T20I of the 2 match series, the hosts India were underfire to win at Mohali. Sri Lanka opted to bat first and skipper Sangakkara’s well composed 31 ball 59 saw Sri Lanka post a over par total of 206/7 in their 20 overs. The lower order provided the momentum to the visitors.</p>
<p>India started off well with Virender Sehwag plundering 64 off 36 balls. However, the partnership that won the match for India was between skipper MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. Dhoni scored a fine 46 off 28 but was unlucky not to see India over the line.</p>
<p>Yuvraj Singh continued to bat along and ensured India eased past the target with 5 balls to spare. Yuvi scored 60 off just 25 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes. India finished with 211/4 and that gave a cumulative of 417 runs in the match.</p>

<p>West Indies overhauled a mighty target of 231 set by South Africa in the 2<sup>nd</sup> T20I of their tour to South Africa in 2015/16. West Indies had put South Africa in to bat after winning the toss. However, skipper Darren Sammy was seen wanting for bowling options as South African batsmen hammered the West Indies attack.</p>
<p>The wrecker-in-chief was skipper Faf du Plessis, who marshaled along with a brilliant 59-ball ton. A cameo from David Miller (47 off 26 balls) saw South Africa post a mammoth 231/7 on the board. West Indies did not give up though. Despite losing Dwayne Smith early, the big Jamaican Chris Gayle rose to the occasion with a blitzkrieg 41-ball 90. Samuels scored 60 off 39 balls.</p>

<p>Some key contributions by the lower order saw skipper Sammy finish the game with 4 wickets in hand as West Indies ended up with 236/4 with 4 balls to spare. 24 sixes were in the match and 7 of them were to the name of Chris Gayle.</p>

<p>India played their first ever T20I match in the United States at the iconic Lauderhill Stadium at Florida. The match marked Carlos Brathwaite’s first ever match as the West Indies skipper. The match started with West Indies openers, Evin Lewis and Johnson Charles, plundering the Indian bowling lineup with no mercy. Charles went back to the dugout after his 33-ball 79. Evin Lewis went on to score a brilliant century that propelled West Indies to a total of 245/6 in their 20 overs.</p>
<p>India lost Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli cheaply in their run chase. However, Rohit Sharma had other plans. Rohit Sharma found an able partner in KL Rahul and the duo raced past their 50-run stand in just 22 balls and thereby getting India back in the game. Sharma was sent back after scoring 62 in 28 balls. KL Rahul continued to bat with flair and elegance to notch up his maiden T20I ton while skipper Dhoni scored a breezy 25-ball 43.</p>
<p>However, India couldn’t ease past the target. Needing 2 to win off the last ball, skipper Dhoni perished on a slower one by Dwayne Bravo and India were left stranded on 244/4 in their 20 overs. The match saw an aggregate of 489 runs scored and as many as 32 sixes were hit.</p>
