<p>The island nation has contributed immensely to the game of cricket. From the likes of Arjuna Ranatunga to Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara and Muttiah Muralitharan Sri Lankan cricket has been on the rise since 1982. Sri Lanka have played in 243 Test matches and have registered 75 wins and 88 defeats while they managed to hang in till the final day on 80 occasions.</p>

<p>This cricketing nation is well known for breathtaking heroics. The Proteas have played 394 matches so far, while winning 144 of them. They have lost on 130 occasions while ended up with even honours 119 times. South Africa have been playing Test cricket since 1889. Their highest registered total is 682 while the lowest being 30. At present South Africa is the highest ranked Test team in the world.</p>

<p>The most unpredictable side in the cricketing fraternity has played 395 Test matches do far. They have tasted victory on 126 occasions while they were floored 111 times. Pakistan have been involved in 158 drawn Test matches so far. This subcontinent team started playing Test cricket back in 1952 and is the second-best ranked Test team in the ICC Test team rankings today.</p>
<h4><strong>5. New Zealand &#8211; 403:</strong></h4>

<p>The Kiwis have registered 81 wins out of 403* Test matches till now. They have lost on 162 occasions while they successfully drew 159 Tests. New Zealand have been playing Test cricket since 1930. They have registered 690 as their highest team total while the lowest score for which they were bowled out is 26.</p>

<p>With a rich cricketing history, India’s journey through the Test path started in 1932. A country that has produced players like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and Sachin Tendulkar is very much on top in the cricketing map. India have played 493 matches so far while they have won 125 of them and have lost out on 157 occasions and have drawn 209 matches.</p>

<p>The most dangerous side during the 1980’s is the most entertaining cricket nation too. West Indies have started playing Test cricket since 1928. They have played 510 Test matches so far. “Windies” have won 164 Tests so far and faced 175 defeats. They have been involved in 170 drawn Test matches as well.</p>

They have notched up 758 as their highest team total, while they could just post 36 in their lowest outing. Australia have the most number of tied matches. They have been involved in 2 tied matches so far.</p>

<p>England have so far played the most number of Test matches. They have had 965 outings so far. The English team ended up on the winning side 344 times while losing out 281. England have been involved in 340 drawn Test matches. Their best total is 903 while the lowest score for which they were cleaned up is 45.</p>
