Top 10 Teams with most ODI wins in 2015: Indeed, Cricket is a game of numbers and a tiny difference in the numbers matter in winning and losing. Talking about statistics, well this year has been an intense cricketing one with the ICC Cricket World Cup and plenty of bilateral series’s that followed. Reaching into the toe end of the year, it’s time we have decided to look back and conquer the statistics of the teams in the year so far. As it goes, here is the list of the Top 10 Teams with most ODI wins in 2015: 10. Zimbabwe – 7 Wins: Zimbabwe. Starting from the World Cup, they did take things down to the wire and gave decent competitions to the strongest of the sides. After the World Cup, they toured Pakistan but were defeated. This was followed by India’s tour to Zimbabwe where they were defeated. However, they did manage to defeat New Zealand in Zimbabwe earlier this year. The Asian team not only won its first World Cup match in the 2015 edition but improved their game even further to beat Zimbabwe 3-2 in the 5-match away ODI series. Afghanistan played 17 matches in 2015 and tasted victory in 8 of those. Another remarkable achievement for the team was to find a place for itself in the top 10 of the ICC ODI team rankings. 8. In the World Cup too, they looked confident in the initial stages but suffered defeats later on and were knocked off in the quarter final of the World Cup by the Proteas. In a total of 22 matches, Sri Lanka managed to win on 11 occasions and suffered defeat 10 times with one match being abandoned. 7. Pakistan did not have a sweet encounter at the World Cup as the one time World Champions were knocked off from the tournament in the quarter finals by the likes of Australia. After that, they had some decent and convincing victories over Zimbabwe. And Pakistan even managed to win the series against Sri Lanka of late. 6. England – 12 Wins: England. (© Getty Images) The English team did not have a sweet outing in the World Cup tournament as they were humiliated and were eliminated in the group stages of the tournament. But they did bounce back well and defeated New Zealand in the bilateral series at their own home soils. This was followed by the series against Australia where they were defeated 2-3. At last they Won the ODI Series against Pakistan in UAE with 3-1. In a total of 26 matches England managed to win on 9 occasions. 5. India – 13 Wins: India. But after that, they had an incredible run in the World Cup where they proceeded to the semi finals without losing a single game. But unfortunately, they had to accept defeat in front of Aussies in the semi final. Also, they were defeated by Bangladesh later in the bilateral series. Recently, they lost the series against South Africa which makes their count as 13 wins in 23 matches. 4. They outplayed England to make their way into the quarter finals of the World Cup. Not only that, Mashrafe Mortaza led the Bangladeshi side to snatch two series wins against Pakistan and India after the World Cup. Well, this was indeed something really ecstatic. Not only that, Bangladesh even defeated South Africa and Zimbabwe in the three match ODI series held in Bangladesh. Thus, in a total of 18 matches, Bangladesh managed to win 13 of those. 3. South Africa – 15 Wins: (Photo Source: BCCI) The Proteas, under the leadership of AB de Villiers, did make a significant mark in the World Cup as they ended up being the semi finalists of the tournament. Of late, the Proteas defeated India in the bilateral series to cement their incredible run in this year. The Proteas have managed to clinch a total of 15 victories in a total of 24 matches this year. 2. Australia – 15 Wins: Australia. Australia have so far retained their predominant stature in the ODIS. They started off with sheer domination against India, which was followed by a World Cup triumph under the leadership of Michael Clarke. This was followed by a series win against England by 3-2. Undoubtedly, the Aussies have maintained their legacy reasonably well in this year so far. 1. New Zealand – 21 Wins: New Zealand. This was followed by a glamorous run in the World Cup where they went unbeaten straight to the finals. Unfortunately, the Black Caps, led by the intensified aggression of Brendon McCullum did not have the last laugh as they were defeated in the finals by the mighty Aussies. In a total of 31 matches being played by them, the Kiwis won 21 of them with 9 defeats, one being abandoned. Of late, they were defeated by South Africa in the bilateral series.
