Top 10 Teams with Most Test Wins: In a format where batmen are required to hang around for hours, tackling each ball with a different game plan, bowling long spells, bending backs on the slow low tracks of Mumbai to hard bouncy pitch of Perth. After battling hard on the field it is always a satisfying thing for any team to get over line in the game’s most quintessential format. And that too doing with the red ball cricket is the most heartening for any team in the world. Right from Test cricket’s foundation game between England and Australia in 1877, we have seen teams taking pleasure and cherishing every victory in the longest format of the game. Over the years there have been sides that have done their job horribly well to take their teams to podium finish. Let’s Look at the Top 10 Teams with Most Test Wins. 10. The tigers started playing test cricket in 2000 and since then has been a slow horse riding at International circuit. Though, they had surprised many big teams in the process, showing some glimpses of awesomeness. 9. Zimbabwe- 11 wins: Zimbabwe. With change in policy at Cricket Zimbabwe (CZ) it had hit their national side badly as the current team is going through a re-building phase. They have won 11 games in 101 matches to stand 9th on the list. 8. Sri Lanka – 80 wins: Sri Lanka. Till date Lankans have won 80 games out of 253, while lost 92 of those. They have grown on as the pillars of World Cricket in last two decade or so. 7. New Zealand- 86 wins: New Zealand. New Zealand started playing Test Cricket way back in 1930 and has only managed to win 86 out of 416 matches, including 169 losses. Theirs has been a side known for their bowling, but in overall terms the Kiwis have produced really good ODI team and players. The stats for test cricket still leave a lot to be achieved. 6. Pakistan was granted test status in 1952 and the greens have managed to play 403 Tests in this time period. They have a history which should be proud of producing some of the most skilled and successful pace bowlers that we have seen in test cricket. 5. India- 133 wins: India. Team India were a submissive, easy to beat the opponent in the early phase of their cricket, but since the evolution andpopularisationn of the game has spread wide in the country. The amount of talent that has evolved out from India is unmatchable. The losing parts have come down in last three-four decades for the Indian team. 4. South Africa- 148 wins: South Africa. A side known for their hard work and commitment yet little fruit, South Africa has always been closer to the top than most teams. They have the second highest winning ratio in world cricket with 36.63. 3. West Indies- 165 wins: West Indies. (© Getty Images) There were days when the West Indies used to dominate world cricket in 70s and 80s. With, the legends like Vivan Richards, Andy Roberts, Micheal Holding and so on. They had witnessed their golden generation playing the gentlemen’s game. Windies have registered 165 wins in their 87 years long history in test cricket. 2. England- 351 wins: England. A lot of experience has evolved from the England side and forms a rich part of the cricket history. It has always been a team which focuses more on Tests, which is more respected form of cricket. 1. They have been the most successful team in test cricket’s history since the first introduction test in 1877 between England and Australia. They dominated the post- West Indies era and till now has been the most consistent team in world cricket. Australia has the highest win ratio among all the teams with 46.91%.
