The South African opener par excellence, Amla became the quickest to 20 ODI centuries when he made his 20th against Ireland in their World Cup 2015 encounter. Hashim Amla has been one of the most consistent batsmen in cricket since his debut. Not considered a limited overs batsman, he has certainly proven those allegations incorrect  by making more than 5500 runs at an average of 57.00 in ODIs as an opener. This average is closer to Michael Bevan’s ignoring the fact that Bevan was a finisher an had lots of not outs to his name. Amla can be considered a modern great despite the fact that he can easily play for 5-6 years.
