He also performed astonishingly in the 1996 world cup and ended up becoming the highest run getter of the tournament with 523 runs to his name. 3. The stylish left hander scored 1442 runs overall in that year and scored 6 centuries during that process in 29 innings that he played. The Kirsten scored 188* against UAE in the 1996 World Cup, which is the highest score by a South African batsman in ODI’s. He stands at number 3rd in the list of top 5 batsmen with most ODI hundreds in a year 2. Sourav Ganguly (India) 7 Sourav Ganguly one of the most aggressive player and Skipper’s of India is at No. 2 . The responsibility of captaincy did not have any negative effects, in fact enhanced his skills further as Ganguly performed extremely well 1579 runs that year. 1.
