Top 5 current batsmen with best 'innings per century' ratio in international cricket
For the purpose of better and fair analysis, a player must have at least 100 international innings under his belt in order to be considered for this list.
2. Steven Smith: 7.77 innings per century
The unorthodox batsman from the land Down Under underwent a massive transformation in his cricketing career. Having started his course as a leg-spinner who could score a few runs in the lower order, he went from being dubbed as the next ‘Shane Warne’ to being regarded as the next ‘Donald Bradman’. His unconventional style of play has often posed various problems for the opposition, who at times are left scratching their heads whilst unsuccessfully devising ways to dismiss him.
His performances in Test cricket is off the charts. He often tires out the bowlers and then feasts on their fatigue, scoring a truckload of runs every series. In the limited-overs format, he often holds the fort together and maintains the pace of the innings. Just like Virat Kohli, he is devoid of any hundred in the shortest format, in which he plays a majorly supporting role to the likes of Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell.
In 272 innings across all formats, the New South Wales batsman has scored 35 hundreds. Out of these, 26 hundreds were scored in Test cricket and 9 in One-day Internationals. Thus, his ratio of innings taken per century scored comes out to be 7.77.
