Top 5 current bowlers with most wickets per ODI
In order to formulate this list, only players who have played a minimum of 50 ODIs have been considered.
4. Mohammed Shami (1.87 wickets per match)
Mohammed Shami, when he first made his international debut, was moderately successful in white-ball cricket. But in the last few years, his performances have been exceptional. And, his numbers in the format, place him at the fourth spot in this list, showing his impact that he has had in Indian Cricket Team’s success in One-Day cricket in the last few years.
At an economy rate of 5.58, he has taken 144 wickets, while maintaining an average of 25.42 in the 77 ODI matches that he has played in. Alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he has managed to make the Indian team a pace bowling powerhouse, which seemed to be a distant prospect few years from now.
With his retirement age closing in for him, and just a number of years left with him before he hangs his boots, he would be looking to make as much impact as he can in the remaining years. He will try to make the best use of his abilities and rising up the charts of the top wicket-takers’ list for team India.
