Top 5 Fast bowlers of the World T20 2016

Fast bowling is not an easy job, especially in the sub-continental conditions. The pacemen did not have a great time bowling in the Indian conditions during the World T20. The pitches were slow and demanded extra efforts from the quickies to stay in the competition. The conditions, of course, were tough but some adapted themselves wonderfully and thrived on these flat decks. The numbers of some of the fast bowlers in the tournament are outstanding. In fact, a couple of fast bowlers have outclassed the top spinners of the tournament if compared statistically. 5. Ashish Nehra: Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra. At an age when most of the fast bowler think of retiring or are already retired, the 36-year-old made a comeback in the Indian team and gave some wonderful performances. His capability to take wickets in the powerplay makes him special. He claimed only 5 wickets in as many games but his miserly spells at the start and the end of the innings were spectacular. 4. Russell came into the tournament after playing important roles in winning two T20 league titles. He continued his amazing form and excelled with the ball for West Indies, who eventually won the tournament. He played in all 6 matches and picked up 9 wickets while maintaining a healthy economy rate of 7.87. His most memorable performance with the ball came against Afghanistan were he picked his best figures of 2/23. 3. James Faulkner: Australia’s James Faulkner. (Photo by MONEY SHARMA/AFP/Getty Images) Australia’s death overs specialist, James Faulkner, was one of the most impactful fast bowlers in the tournament. Faulkner has all the abilities required to be a successful fast bowler in the shortest format. He has a great back of the hand slower one, fire sharp yorkers and can stick to a nagging line and length. All these variations trouble the batsmen on the slow wickets where the bounce is sometimes uneven. Faulkner played in all Super 10 matches and picked 8 wickets at an average of 13.25. His best figures in the tournament was the spell of 5/27 he bowled against Pakistan at Mohali. 2. Mustafizur Rahman: Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman. His well-disguised cutter along with tight line and length make him one of the most effective limited overs bowlers. Rahman enjoys bowling on slower tracks and has shown his capabilities against some of the best teams last year. He continued mesmerizing and emulated similar performances in the World T20, picking up 9 wickets in just 3 games. Mustafizur did not play in the qualifiers and was included in the playing XI for the Super 10s where he put up some extraordinary display of bowling against Australia, India, and New Zealand. 1. David Willey: England’s David Willey. (Photo by PRAKASH SINGH/AFP/Getty Images) David Willey was England’s best bowler in the tournament and finished as the fifth highest wicket-taker overall. Willey was very useful with the new ball and could swing it prodigiously. His knack of bringing early breakthrough and contain runs in the death overs made him a valuable asset in the team. The left-armer finished with 10 wickets in 6 games at an average of 15.90.
