Top 5 International players who failed in IPL: International players are paid hefty prices to sign them for the Indian Premier league. They are expected to lead the team using their experience and expertise for the franchise; but not all of them could live up to the expectations. Here is a list of those Top 5 International players who failed in IPL. 1. Angelo Mathews: Angelo Mathews DD. (Photo Source: BCCI) Angelo Mathews is one of the best all-rounders in the International arena. He has the skill to hit the ball a far distance and can bowl a tight line with the ball. Mathews has led the Sri Lankan side to many victories batting at the death. But, he has not been amongst the runs or wickets in the IPL. He played for the KKR in the initial editions and later was a top player for the PWI. Mathews is currently with the DD but is not able to make an impact. He has taken 27 wickets in 45 games with a best bowling of 4/19 with an economic rate of 8.06 which is on the higher side. 2. George Bailey: George Bailey KXIP. (Photo Source: BCCI) George Bailey, who was the skipper for the Aussie side, has a reputation for the being a pinch hitter. He was chosen by the Chennai Super Kings but did not get enough games to showcase his talent. Bailey is leading the Punjab team and is not able to get runs and has failed on more than one occasion with the bat. His record consists of 548 runs from 31 games which a best score of 61 *. George Bailey should get his act together before it’s too late. 3. Glenn Maxwell: Glenn Maxwell KXIP. (Photo Source: BCCI) Maxwell is among the most destructive batsmen in international cricket and can bowl decent off spinners. His unorthodox and flashy shots are the core of his batting. Unfortunately, Glenn Maxwell is not able to replicate his international performance in the IPL. He was a part of the Mumbai Indians in 2013 and was bought by the Kings XI Punjab in the previous season, though he did a decent job then but has really disappointed everyone with his batting this season. In his 30 appearances, he got 723 runs with a highest score of 95. 4. Ravi Bopara: Ravi Bopara SRH. (Photo Source: BCCI) Ravi Bopara is a good batsman with a sound technique and medium fast bowler. He can bat at any position and can play the big shots when needed. Bopara was a consistent performer for the England side in the One-day format until a few years ago. The SRH franchise picked him in the recent auction, though he was not very impressive with his performances for the KXIP. His IPL record states that he has scored 531 runs from 24 games with a highest score of 84. 5. Shakib Al Hasan: Shakib Al Hasan KKR. (Photo Source: BCCI) Shakib is one of the most accurate left-arm off spinners’ he has the capability to take wickets at critical stages of the game. He has been a match winner for the Bangladesh over the year. He is currently playing for the KKR and has been on the same side from 2011. His performance both the bat and bowl is far from satisfactory and his record clearly suggest that he has to pull up his socks.
