Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first after winning the toss and scored 159 runs and Kings XI Punjab had a task in their hands against the strong bowling of SRH. KXIP lost the opener Hashim Amla off the very first delivery to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and soon the skipper Glenn Maxwell also departed that pegged them back early.

There were no partnerships of any substance and they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. But one man was not ready to give up and held the fort alone. The opening batsman Manan Vohra kept his team in the hunt despite the fall of wickets. He didn’t find any support from the other end but there was no way the right-hander was ready to call it quits and kept smashing shots out of the park.

He brought the equation down to 16 off the last 2 overs. KXIP had the game in their hands with Vohra still at the crease and 3 wickets still remaining. But Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a terrific over and went for only 5 over and picked up 2 wickets that included the wicket of Vohra too. He went back after scoring 95 runs off just 50 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes. The last 2 batsmen failed to make the remaining runs and SRH clinched the victory by 5 runs. A valiant effort was ruined by Bhuvneshwar who ended up with a five-wicket haul.
