3. Sri Lanka – Lasith Malinga

Malinga has developed into Sri Lanka’s best ODI bowler, With unorthodox technique, he delivers the ball with a side-arm action learnt from playing softball cricket during his childhood.

‘Slinga Malinga’ as he is fondly called is perhaps the best death bowler in current cricket. He is the only bowler to take three hat-tricks in ODI cricket. The Lankans failed to perform to expectations during the recent home series against Pakistan, but Malinga held his own.

He is a great exponent of the slower ball and much of the Lankan hopes rest on his shoulders going forward. His 291 wickets at an average of just below 28 are a proof of his bowling prowess in the ODIs.
