Tough to correlate TNPL and Ranji Trophy campaign: S Badrinath
The skipper of the Karaikudi franchise, S Badrinath refused to reveal much of his plans for the Ranji Trophy season, as he had switched his Ranji Trophy stint with Vidarbha two seasons ago. This year, he is again back to the Tamil Nadu side.
He also claimed that he have got the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Vidarbha and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has given the acceptance letter as he made his comeback after two seasons. “I’ve got an NOC from Vidarbha and TNCA has given me an acceptance letter as well. So, I am here.”
Speaking about his experience playing for Vidarbha, “I was very happy (playing for Vidarbha) and it was a great experience. I’ve been travelling for the last 15 years and it was important to spend time with my family,” he mentioned.
When queried on whether he is hopeful of getting into the Tamil Nadu Ranji side again, he said that currently his focus is only on the TNPL and thus he will think about this only after the TNPL tournament. “At the moment, my focus is only on TNPL and I’ll be able to answer this question only later,” he added.

S Badrinath went on to conclude that the correlation of the TNPL and the Ranji side would not be an easy task. “It’s tough to correlate TNPL and Ranji Trophy campaign because the formats are different. I believe TNPL will produce cricketers who would go on to play the shorter formats of the game be it for the state, in IPL or at a higher grade,” he mentioned.
