India cricketer Virat Kohli has purchased a luxurious 2000 sq ft villa at Alibaug for ₹6 crores. According to reports, the legendary cricketer already paid ₹36 lakhs as stamp duty for finalising the transaction.

The latest purchase will have a 400 sq ft swimming pool as part of the offering deal, as per the registration document accessed by Zapkey, the aggregator of publicly available property registration documents.

Virat's brother Vikas completing all the formalities

As Virat Kohli is featuring in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 against Australia, he remains unavailable to complete the formalities regarding the new property. Vikas Kohli, elder brother of the popular cricketer, is taking care of all the formalities neccessary for the purchase to occur.

The 34-year-old cricketer's villa is situated in the interiors of Alibaug, an area in Awas village in Maharashtra.

“Awas is a preferred location due to its natural beauty. Besides, the Mandwa jetty is five minutes away from Awas and the speed boats have now reduced the distance to Mumbai to 15 minutes. With the cricketer being busy with the Australia tour, his brother Vikas Kohli visited Alibaug sub-registrar office and completed the registration formalities, said advocate Mahesh Mhatre, who works as the legal consultant for Avas Living Alibaug LLP. The lawyer also looks into the proceedings of Kohli's purchase of the villa, the reports said.

Moreover, Alibaug is being developed into a well-equiped township with all the modern-day luxurious amenities possible to be added in it, within a few years. Average land prices there are ranging between ₹3000 to ₹3,500 per sq ft. It is deemed to be a weekend destination among the elite class.

Meanwhile, India have successfully retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by a margin of 2-0. The third Test will be played from March 1 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
