IPL Auction 2024: Who is Mallika Sagar? Everything you need to know about Indian auctioneer
After doing an excellent job in the WPL Auction, Sagar was handed the responsibility of handling the high-profile IPL 2024 Auction.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed Malika Sagar as the auctioneer for the first-ever Women’s Premier League auction that was held on February 13. It is known that Malika is a Mumbai-based art collector consultant for Modern and Contemporary Indian art and a partner in Art India Consultants firm, and she was seen with the hammer on the day of the inaugural season's auction.
After doing an excellent job in the WPL Auction, Sagar was handed the responsibility of handling the high-profile IPL 2024 Auction. She became the first female auctioneer in the history of the league and has a tough job in her hands as IPL has seen some very fine names taking up the job earlier.
Earlier the IPL auctions were conducted by the likes of Richard Madley, Charu Sharma, and Hugh Edmeades, however, the IPL auction featured Mallika. Sagar, who recently conducted the 2nd WPL Auction successfully, has 23 years of experience in art auctioneering. Mallika was born in a business family in India's Mumbai and returned from the US with a degree in history of Art.
Sagar specializes in modern art and is an auctioneer at Mumbai's private auction house. She rose to immense fame after becoming the first female auctioneer from India at the international art and luxury business Christie’s.
