New Zealand’s stunning fast bowler Trent Boult has opened up about his dream hat-trick in IPL and named Virat Kohli, Jimmy Neesham, and Tim Southee as the three picks. Boult took no time to name Kohli as his No. 1 player who he would like to pick to start his hat-trick with.

His memories with the term hat-trick are relishing as he scripted history at the Lord’s cricket ground when he became the first New Zealander to claim a World Cup hat-trick against Australia. His brilliant efforts with the ball helped them restrict Australia to 243 runs but, New Zealand lost the track ultimately.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, when asked what would be his dream hat-trick in IPL, he said: “I would say, Virat Kohli, can’t say, Kane Williamson, Jimmy Neesham would be the second, and Tim Southee would pop on at No. 3- the pressure ball. I could not think of anyone to bowl to under pressure than Tim Southee.”

When asked why he did not say Kane Williamson, he further added: “Kane’s a very good friend of mine and I have got him out before so I don’t need a second wicket! (laughs).” Kohli and Boult have a fun relationship, and their banter has been on for a long time now. It doesn’t come as a shock that the 32-year-old dreams of Kohli’s wicket in the first place.

Boult has not scalped an IPL hat-trick so far and aims to do it soon. The Kiwi bowler has earned laurels in the international leg for his top-notch performances.  He has played 75 Test matches, 93 ODIs, and 44 T20Is and has bagged 301, 169, and 62 wickets apiece.

At the Rajasthan Royals set-up this year, he has scalped eight wickets in as many games so far and has showcased great wit with the ball. His best IPL season was the 2020 edition when the pacer scalped 25 wickets in 15 games that he played for the Mumbai Indians. He has emerged as one of the deadliest bowlers to face as he gives nightmares to the batters.
