Trent Boult takes a blinder mid-way in his follow through

Today, Trent Boult dominated every cricket forum in the first half of the day and it is not surprising that he remained the talking point because of multiple moments, be it his batting, his stump mic commentary or his stunner of a catch in the game against West Indies today. It was Day 2 of the second Test at Hamilton and it was the 14th over in the West Indies innings and Boult was bowling his fifth delivery. He bowled a length ball and Shimron Hetmyer was attempting to defend it, however, the ball held a little and touched Boult’s hands who was still in his follow through. He managed to compose himself and dived to grab the ball with one hand. If you pause the video below at the point of the catch, Boult looked like he was flying with his arm stretched out. For pretty long he himself could not believe that he managed to pull it off. It was too brilliant a catch and so quick that it looked unreal. What makes it so special is that this was an exhibition of Boult’s excellent reflexes. Moreover, it shows his amazing athleticism where he is able to stop on the follow through and take it. According to estimates, the reaction time must have been somewhere around 0.35-0.4 seconds. In slow motion, his hand just appears out of nowhere in the corner of the shot, also indicating the level of difficulty that he managed to execute with such ease. He frustrated the West Indians with the tenth wicket stand alongside Tim Southee as they added 61 runs and took the total to 373. Boult ended with 37 runs in the 1st innings and is yet to be dismissed in the series. West Indies trail by 158 runs at 215/8. Boult finished with 2/67 and Southee registered 2/34. The highest scorer for the Windies remained Kraigg Brathwaite with 66 runs.
