New Zealand will take on the Indian side in their second match of the Super 12 stages of the T20 World Cup on 31st October 2021. This match will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

And, New Zealand veteran cricketer Ross Taylor said that Trent Boult would like to replicate what Shaheen Shah Afridi did against India on 24th October 2021, and set the tone for the Kiwis with the ball in hand. Taylor also said that Boult will play a crucial role for the Black Caps in their encounter against Virat Kohli and his men.

“Trent Boult would love to set the tone for New Zealand just like Shaheen Shah Afridi did for Pakistan a few days ago. Boult will be crucial for New Zealand and Kane Williamson will be banking on him to get the early breakthroughs, if they bowl first,” said Ross Taylor as quoted by India Today.

Taylor also opined that Boult struggled upfront with the new ball while playing for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL. “We have seen in the IPL that Boult has struggled upfront for Mumbai Indians. He has not got as many wickets, but his first couple of overs with the new ball will be crucial for New Zealand,” said Taylor.

Trent Boult is a great bowler in all formats of the game: Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar opined that Trent Boult is a great bowler in every format of the game and added that India will have to be wary of the left-arm seamer in the first few overs.

“Trent Boult is a great bowler in all the formats of the game. India will have to watch out for the first couple of overs. There’s no doubt that Boult will be looking to replicate what Shaheen did last week,” said Gavaskar.

Trent Boult also said that he was amazed at the way Shaheen Afridi bowled against the Indian side. Boult also admitted that the Indian batting lineup is a quality one, and concluded by stating that he wants to emulate Shaheen Afridi’s bowling effort.

“The way Shaheen bowled the other night was, for a left-armer, I thought it was amazing. There’s quality batsmen in that Indian line-up and early wickets are definitely the focus for us as a bowling group. Hopefully, from my point of view, it swings around a little bit and I can mirror what Shaheen did the other night,” said Trent Boult.
