Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium saw Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets, as the Jaipur-based team booked their place in the finals for the first time in 14 years. RR fans and players now hope to win their 2nd title and dedicate it to the late Shane Warne, who led the side to its maiden title in 2008.
After Rajasthan’s emphatic win, New Zealand’s Trent Boult interacted with a young fan in the stands. The left-arm pacer gifted his match jersey to the young fan in a heartwarming gesture. The incident was captured on camera, and the Rajasthan Royals Twitter handle shared the clip with a caption: “How can you not love Trent Boult? Watch him make a young fan’s day after RR v RCB.”

Speaking of Qualifier 2, Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss for just the third time this season. After opting to bowl, the Rajasthan pacers started the game impressively, as Prasidh Krishna got rid of Virat Kohli in his first over of the innings. Glenn Maxwell threatened to take the game away from Rajasthan in his partnership with Rajat Patidar, but the Australian was dismissed by Boult after some smart work in the field by Obed McCoy. Krishna and McCoy were the picks of the bowlers, as the duo scalped three wickets each, and Boult and Ashwin chipped in with a wicket apiece as RCB finished with a paltry score of 157/8 in their 20 overs.
The Jos Buttler show deflated RCB
The Royals’ openers were quick off the blocks in the chase and scored a quickfire 61 in the first five overs. Jos Buttler was in his typical swashbuckling mood as he smacked the RCB bowlers on a memorable night for the Royals. The Englishman scored his 4th century of IPL 2022 as he scored an unbeaten 106 of 60 deliveries to book Rajasthan’s place in the finals.
Rajasthan Royals will face off against Gujarat Titans in the final on Sunday (29th May) at the same venue. The Men in Pink will be determined to exact revenge on Gujarat for their defeat in Qualifier 1.
