The tri-nation series involving Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh has been a thrilling one thus far. Bangladesh have performed exceptionally and won three encounters on the trot to register a berth in the Final. However, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka’s fate hangs in the balance with one league game remaining.

The Sri Lankans and the Bangladeshis will clash in the last league game of the series on January 25 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. While Sri Lanka’s progress into the Final depends on their own performance, Zimbabwe will be praying for Bangladesh to turn over Sri Lanka for the second time in the tournament.

Pitch report

The track in Dhaka has been conducive to bowling and has assisted both the spinners and the fast bowlers. However, Bangladesh have managed to get runs on the board and strangle the opposition thereafter. The hosts have proved earlier that the wicket is not as devious and can field their batting unit with ease.

Playing Combinations

Bangladesh

Bangladesh have already qualified for the final on the backs of some stupendous performances. They might be looking to give opportunities the players who haven’t got a game yet in the series. Mohammad Mithun hasn’t played any of the three games and might be drafted in to play the final league game in place of Nasir Hossain who hasn’t had much to do in the series.

The bowling lineup has got a lid on the opposition batsmen and subsequently have bowled them out cheaply. Abul Hasan Raju hasn’t featured in any of the three games and might replace Mustafizur Rahman in the team.

Predicted XI: Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Mohammad Mithun, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), Abul Hasan, Sunzamul Islam, Rubel Hossain

Sri Lanka

After a dismal start to their campaign, Sri Lanka did indeed manage to brush aside Zimbabwe and opened their account in the triangular series. However, opener Kusal Perera’s injury has sparked at the wrong time. Though they have announced Dhananjaya de Silva as his replacement, the team management might send Niroshan Dickwella to partner Upul Tharanga as the opener.

Apart from that, Sri Lanka might not wish to tinker with their winning combination. The likes of Nuwan Pradeep and Thissara Perera have performed well for the Lankans and they will look to replicate the form against Bangladesh. Perera also needs to fire with the willow being Sri Lanka’s integral performer in the ongoing series.

Predicted XI: Upul Tharanga, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal (C), Dhananjaya de Silva, Asela Gunaratne, Thisara Perera, Lakshan Sandakan, Akila Dananjaya, Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Pradeep
