Tripura all set to get its second largest stadium in the state
The international standard cricket stadium will have a 25,000-seat capacity with all modern facilities in close proximity
The cricket fans in the north eastern part of the country are set for a treat as the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA), with financial assistance from the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), has received confirmation for constructing a new stadium in the state.
The international standard cricket stadium will have a 25,000-seat capacity with all modern facilities in close proximity. Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar on Sunday formally launched the proceedings for the stadium. The approximate expenditure on the construction is estimated to cost a little over Rs 200 crore.
TCA Secretary Tapas Dey has confirmed that the BCCI would reimburse 50 percent cost of the stadium, which is being constructed at Narshingarh, 20 km north of Agartala. Set to be the second largest cricket stadium in the northeastern region after Assam’s Guwahati stadium, the contract for its construction has been bestowed to a New Delhi-based company.
The Tripura Government has also made arrangements to allocate around 15 acres of land to the TCA to construct the 25,000-seat capacity stadium.
New stadium to seven-storeyed club house
Speaking about the features of the new arena, Dey said as per quotes on cricketnmore, “In the under-construction international standard cricket stadium, all latest modern facilities would be available so that international cricket matches could be held here. The seven-storeyed club house, modern lift, and electronic score board are the other features of the stadium.”
The Chief Minister further added that with the construction of the stadium, sports, and in particular cricket, would gain a widespread popularity in the region. Taking into account the present sports scenario in the country, it is of paramount importance to have adequate stadiums and practice arena with proper infrastructure.
There is a huge reservoir of sports talent in Tripura and other northeastern states and the new stadium can act as the catalyst in providing them scope to highlight their talent, skill, and abilities.
