The fun and entertainment of the Indian Premier League (IPL) ended with the Mumbai Indians emerging as champions. Now the teams and players are all geared up for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which starts on May 30. The hosts England and the ‘Men in Blue’ led by captain Virat Kohli are being considered as the top favourites to win the much-coveted title.
The recently concluded IPL 2019 wasn’t great for the franchises of India’s ace spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal- Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. While Kuldeep had a dismal run in the season with just 4 wickets in nine games, Chahal finished as the best bowler for his franchises with 18 wickets in 14 outings.
However, the duo has been India’s key in many limited-overs victories and with the English summer offering suitable dry pitches to the spinners, it’s needless to say that the spin duo will be instrumental for the ‘Men In Blue’ during the showpiece event. The 28-year-old leggie, Yuzvendra Chahal is now focusing on the World Cup after a successful IPL stint individually.
For Chahal, the most important aspect in his partnership with Kuldeep is the trust they share and the mutual understanding.
“Trust is the biggest thing between me and Kuldeep. We trust each other. Just like batsmen do in their partnerships, Kuldeep and I do while bowling. We have good coordination and the best part is that we understand each other,” Chahal was quoted as saying by TOI.
Kuldeep-Chahal duo receive guidance in implementing plans from Dhoni and Kohli
Chahal also revealed that the pair discusses plans with each other and they both receive guidance from the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni.
“We (Kuldeep and I) discuss plans with each other and implement those with the help of our seniors, especially (Virat) Kohli bhai and (MS Dhoni) Mahi bhai. We will do the same in the World Cup,” he added.
India will begin their World Cup 2019 campaign against South Africa on June 5 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton with a hope to lift the coveted trophy.
