India won the ODI series decider against West Indies by four wickets. It turned out to be a close encounter but on the back of brilliant knocks played by Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and a small cameo by Shardul Thakur helped the hosts in sealing down the series 2-1. However, after the match, when Rishabh Pant shared a winning post, he ended up getting hilariously trolled by the netizens.
West Indies batting first posted a mammoth total of 315 runs in stipulated 50 overs. For visitors, their batting unit did a commendable job and played quite responsibly in the series decider. Nicholas Pooran played a swift knock of 89 runs off just 64 balls whereas Keiron Pollard smashed 74 off 51 balls. The duo stitched a brilliant partnership and helped their side in posting a good total on the scoreboard at the end.

But, one thing that hogged the spotlight in Cuttack ODI was the poor wicketkeeping of Rishabh Pant, who dropped three big catches in the crucial match. Firstly, the young Indian wicketkeeper dropped a catch of Roston Chase in the 16th over off Kuldeep Yadav. Later on, he dropped Shai Hope twice in the 35th over of the match.
Pant performed decently well with the bat in the three-match ODI series against West Indies and there were expectations that he might help India in winning the match but that was not the case. He came out to the middle when the host had already lost their three big wickets of Rohit, Rahul and Iyer. At that time, Team India required 128 runs with ample amount of overs left. The Delhi player was expected to spend some time and play a match-winning knock but he got bowled after scoring just seven runs.
He tried to play a rash stroke on a short-pitched delivery bowled by Keemo Paul. But, the ball took a thick inside edge of the bat and went onto hit the stumps. Later on, Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur helped in winning the 3rd and final ODI of the series.
After winning the series Rishabh Pant shared a still after winning the ODI series with Team India that was captioned, “Team Work,”. However, it didn’t go down well with the fans because of the poor performance of the player in 3rd ODI and started trolling him upside down on his post.
