Indian Premier League (IPL) is touted as the festival of the cricket in India and the fans every year wait eagerly for the extravaganza to unfold. The superstars from various cricketing nations apart from Pakistan participate in the league and battle it out for their respective franchises. Also, all the Indian cricketers play the lucrative tournament as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) keep the international cricket calendar free during the time. However, the tussle between the Bollywood and IPL continues as the big budget films are set to release next year in the midst of the competition.

Renowned Bollywood actresses Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan have announced that a movie they both star in is slated for a release on May 18. The producers preferably stay away from announcing any film during the IPL as they fear a weak response as the fans prefer T20 cricket over movies during that period. This year, films like Meri Pyaari Bindu and Half Girlfriend failed to live up to the expectations as they released amidst the 10th season of IPL. Hence the contest is now touted between the actresses and one of the best leagues in the world.

When is the IPL in 2018?

The 11th season of the Indian Premier League will commence on April 4 in 2018. The tournament will conclude after almost two months of high-voltage cricketing action on May 31. Many decisions were taken in the recent Governing Council meeting between the IPL officials. Amongst them, the retention policy of the players was the most discussed point.

According to the proposal put forth in the meeting, each of the participating 8 franchises would be allowed to retain 3 players each (2 Indian and 1 foreigner). The official announcements are yet to be made and the final call on all the decisions will be taken on November 14. However, it remains to be seen if the suspended teams Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings are allowed to retain their players or not.
