Anil Kumble was one of the most successful Indian coaches till date. He did wonders with the team and took it to the number one position in the Test rankings. However, it was all not enough for the players in the team as they were not happy with the way the former wrist spinner functioned. He was a taskmaster and the players didn’t like it especially the captain.
Virat Kohli had his differences with the Indian coach. He was not very vocal about it but now that Anil has stepped down as the coach we can all understand what actually happened behind closed doors. Kumble managed to get the results but his relationship with the captain was not at its best. Kumble termed it as “untenable”. It will be hard to replace a coach like him.
BCCI’s statement
BCCI sorted out a statement to announce the departure of the Indian coach and it was a subtle goodbye. They also revealed that they had offered him an extension but Kumble rejected and decided to step away from the coaching position.
The statement read, “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) confirms that Mr. Anil Kumble has withdrawn his services as the post of the Head Coach for the Senior India Men’s team. While the Cricket Advisory Committee had endorsed an extension to his tenure as Head Coach, Mr. Anil Kumble has decided not to continue as the coach.”
Fans unhappy with Kohli
As it is quite clear from Anil’s statement that his relationship with Kohli has caused his departure, the fans in the sub-continent of India are utterly unhappy with him. They have confessed their distress with Virat Kohli’s as they called him arrogant and accused him of being the culprit for Anil Kumble’s departure.
There were a lot of tweets coming in against Kohli while some bid adieu to Kumble others were busy bashing the Indian captain. There were some hilarious tweets while some were pretty serious and unhappy with the resignation of the Indian head coach.
Here are some of the tweets
Don't know whom to support between Kohli and Anil Kumble, one of them should say something about Modi to make it easier for public to decide

Virat Kohli is treating Anil Kumble like a shit, that's disgusting, he should keep his big ego aside and respect the legend.

My biggest problem with the Kumble-Kohli saga is the precedent it sets. Captain now has a veto to CAC. Will future coaches dare to disagree?

Had problems with #RayJennings. Now #Kumble.
Kohli is becoming more and more like Ganguly. Can't handle professional coaches.— Sundar Ganapathy (@sambar_vadai) June 20, 2017

Why take @imVkohli's ultimatum-"either him or me"? He too should have been shown the door.Discipline & Country is above any individual. 2/3
