Back in July 2017, Ravi Shastri, the former Indian cricketer, was appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team for a period of two years until the end of the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. Previously, he had the experience of being with the national team as he was the team director from August 2014 to April 2016. He came in after Anil Kumble’s resignation in the same year.
However, he hasn’t had much to cheer thus far, especially in overseas Tests. Earlier this year, India lost the three-match Test series 1-2 against South Africa, albeit they won the last match at Wanderers in Johannesburg to salvage some pride after defeats in the first two matches. India are currently in England where they are playing a five-match Test series against the Three Lions.
India capitulates alarmingly
Prior to the start of the series, Shastri sounded confident about the visiting team outclassing their opponents. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone as per plan as the Brits have already taken an unassailable 3-1 lead with one match to be played at Kennington Oval in London from September 7 and the match won’t have any significance as far as the result of the series is concerned.
In the previous Test match at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton, India required 245 runs in the fourth innings to draw level in the series. They lost three early wickets, but a 101-run stand between Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane brought the visiting team closer. Nevertheless, once the Indian captain perished, the rest of the lineup couldn’t handle the pressure of the stiff run chase.
Rahane, who scored a half-century along with Kohli, wasn’t able to carry on. Eventually, India folded for 184 runs and lost the match by 60 runs. In the meantime, Twitter called for Shastri to be removed as the team’s head coach.
Here is how Twitter reacted
Time for Mr Ravi Shastri to step down as coach at the end of the series. #ENDvIND

Ideally #RaviShastri should be sacked, #sanjaybangar as well
I don't see why they still remains the coach.
South Africa test series was close but not good enough
England test series is close but not good enough
Team selection wasn't good
Reading pitch was also major problem— Nik! (@nikhilster166) September 3, 2018
For a change, I *want* to see Ravi Shastri’s mug at the post-match conference, talking about the performance of the “Best Indian travelling team” in this Test. #EngvInd

Make 11 clones of Virat Kohli and make a team of that. Use Ravi Shastri to fetch drinks. Everyone else can come home and prepare for next season of IPL.

Head coach Ravi Shastri said during innings break that anything under 270, ind would be pretty happy to chase.. Now it seems target 70 is pretty big ask for them.. Where is our mr head coach?sometimes the way he speaks with attitude that ind already won the match #ENGvIND

RT if you want Rahul Dravid instead of Ravi Shastri as Indian cricket team coach.

Someone please ask Ravi shastri what his contribution is to this Indian team other than being an overconfident dooshbag in his media appearances.India made some huge tactical errors in this game. Not playing sweep against Moeen. Ashwin bowling far quicker than he should have.
