Twitter is concerned after KL Rahul flatters to deceive yet again at The Ageas Bowl
On-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena took his time to raise his finger, but eventually, the batter had to perish.
The conundrum of the Indian lineup had somewhat been solved after the team’s thumping victory against England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. However, a few of their batters were still yet to hit their straps, one of them was KL Rahul. In the first match at Edgbaston in Birmingham, he came to bat at number three, but couldn’t make any impact whatsoever with the willow.
In the second encounter at Lord’s- The Home of Cricket, he couldn’t counter the English pace attack and could only manage 18 runs, combining both the innings. The Karnataka-born batsman, with scores of 23 and 36, looked good in both the innings at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old was unable to convert and fell prey to the home team’s fast bowlers.
Rahul flunks with the bat once again
Having scored 94 runs in six innings at an average of 15.67, he was in dire requisite of getting a substantial score under his belt. To his dismay, his poor run of form continued at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton as well. The right-hander smacked a couple of boundaries to kick-start his knock. His 37-run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan gave India a brisk start.
But just when it seemed that Rahul had got the measure of the conditions and bowling, Stuart Broad nipped him out for 19 runs. The ball swung back and smacked Rahul on the pads above his knee-roll. On-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena took his time to raise his finger, but eventually, the batter had to perish.
The Indians also didn’t resort to taking the Decision Review System (DRS). The bowler was pretty sure after he appealed in unison with his teammates and gave the Three Lions the much-needed opening wicket. In the meantime, Twitter was highly dissatisfied with another lacklustre show from the top-order batsmen.
