Twitter elates as Murali Vijay notches up his third consecutive first-class ton
Vijay is still going good and looking hungry for more.
Murali Vijay slammed his 11th Test century in the ongoing third and final Test of the series against Sri Lanka in Delhi. The spectators at Ferozshah Kotla Stadium were treated to some spectacular batting from the opener as he continued to celebrate his comeback which started in Nagpur. However, Twitterati has made it a habit to react to the more so often centuries from the Indian batsmen and it was no different when Vijay brought up his on the first day of the Test.
Vijay kept his place in the side on the back of a splendid century on his return to the international fold. He looked assured from the word go in the middle ever since the match started in hazy conditions on a wicket which had a little of grass on it. Though it didn’t make any difference to his approach as Vijay went about his business right through. India lost the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara in the first session but he looked unperturbed at the other end and easily manoeuvred the Sri Lankan bowlers.
After lunch, he was even severe on any bad deliveries dished out at him and upped the scoring rate of the team. He kept his cool even as the skipper Virat Kohli attacked the bowlers and tried to catch him up with his score. He notched up his 11th Test century just before tea and celebrated it in a unique way which went on for a while. This was also his third consecutive first-class century as he had scored 140 against Odisha in Ranji Trophy before the series against Sri Lanka commenced.
Twitterati loves the dab from the duo
Murali Vijay reached his ton with a cracking drive off the back foot off Lakshan Sandakan. The dressing room stood up in applause for him right away and Vijay too had something to suggest cheekily to them. There were smiles all around as India is in an incredibly happy space as they are playing exceptionally well. However, Vijay continued to enjoy his moment as he hugged his skipper Kohli and then the duo also performed a dab which brought a roar from the ferocious crowd present in the Stadium.
Twitterati was alert to this as well and had a moment to cherish with one of the longest celebrations after a century.
This is how they poured in their tweets in happiness for Vijay:
