Twitter erupts as James Anderson and Steve Smith involve in a banter

The Ashes games are never short of banter and the first day of the Adelaide Test match was not an exception. It was always going to be fiery with the kind of statements the players had passed on leading up to the game especially James Anderson and the Australian captain Steve Smith.
While Anderson accused the hosts of being bullish with the headbutt incident that transpired between Jonny Bairstow and Cameron Bancroft, Smith hit back by saying Anderson had no right to criticize someone for sledging as he himself has been “the biggest sledger in the game” right through his career.
As soon as Smith made his way to the pitch on Day 1 at the fall of Australia’s second wicket, Anderson looked to get into his nerves and his skipper Joe Root also gave him the licence to do that by positioning him at the short mid-on position right in front of the batsman at the non-striker end.
Smith was not going to back off either. He understood the trap and decided to annoy Anderson. Whenever he was at the non-striker end, he would pretend to go for a run as soon as the ball hit the striker’s bat even though there was no opportunity for a run and in the process would come right in front of Anderson to disallow him from watching where the ball had gone.
A lot of chatter was going on between the two players regarding that as Anderson was clearly not happy with what Smith was doing, while Smith was adamant on doing what he was doing. The umpire Aleem Dar had to step in and separate the two players to make sure nothing unpleasant happened.
