India XI was up against select County XI in a warm-up game that took place in Durham that ended in a draw. Though the match ended in a draw, day two of the warm-up game saw visiting side having an upper hand on the game. The day saw an unusual encounter between Mohammed Siraj and Washington Sundar. As Sundar is playing from the County side, Siraj didn’t leave any chance to give him a competitive stare.

The county side got wrapped up on 220 runs which handed them a trail of 91 runs on day two of the game. During the same sequence, when Siraj bowled to Sundar, he sort of sledged him and could be seen saying a few words which couldn’t be caught or heard on camera due to the angle. The same incident divided Twitter where one section added that the two teammates just had casual banter while the other added that it was inappropriate from Siraj’s end.

The Indian side was led by Rohit Sharma in the practice game as regular skipper Virat Kohli nursed his stiff back. On the other hand, Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was struggling with some hamstring issues. Both the players are expected to get fit by the starting of the first match which commences on August 04. It has to be noted that the warm-up games are set for the visiting side so that they can have an idea of the English conditions before the high-profile series.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the Washington Sundar-Mohammed Siraj incident

The warm-up game saw Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul shining with the bat. Jadeja came up with classy fifties in both the innings while Rahul smashed a century in the first innings of the game. Umesh Yadav remained impressive with the ball and English opener Haseeb Hameed rocked the show with a stunning century in the first innings of the game.

It will be a thing to see how India will match shoulders with England in the five-match Test series starting from August 04 which will mark the commencement of the 2021-23 cycle of the WTC.
