IPL is known to have thrown surprises and the story is no different as we are on the cusp of the league’s entrance into its second decade with retention event that took place earlier this month followed by an exciting mega Auction that is currently live in Bengaluru, already creating much buzz in town before the action really begins on the field. The Pre-Auction proceedings are as exciting as the tournament due to the hype created and the frenzy among the fans to see their heroes play for their respective franchises is a thing to boast about.

The much awaited mega auction is already on its way and the focus as always is on which player is going muster the highest bid. There are quite few Indian players who will be in contention for the span of next two days to be in limelight in terms of bids they cash in for their franchise. IPL is a land of opportunities that has helped many players’ careers to get back on track. Not going by the trends is something that excites the fans and people associated.

Gayle goes unsold

Being one of the most successful T20 player the game has ever produced, the Carribean Southpaw despite of his tremendous form in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League where he enabled Rangpur Riders to lift the title on the back of his stupendous 143 in the finals, has failed to impress any of the franchises concerned. The ever attacking went unsold in the IPL players auction despite of his known exploits with the bat in the past. None of the franchises seemed interested in Chris Gayle’s firepower more so due to his inconsistency in the recent editions of the League where he was seen warming the benches.

Maybe a higher base price

Being a part of marquee players list, Gayle had his base price set as 2 crore (INR), maybe the prevailing reason for him not getting even an opening bid that could interest the franchises to trust his abilities to change the course of the game in a quick span of time. Although, there is a possibility that he could be recalled tomorrow morning on the basis of franchises selection as the players who went unsold can be brought back again to the Auction table just in case any team wishes to.
