The first over bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar was just the start India needed and just the start Pakistan were looking to avoid. It was a maiden over with varying lengths, mostly full and outside the off stump. So by now, Pakistan had already made it a 49-over game. Even Jasprit Bumrah was good in his first over, with just 1 run and an extra coming in because he attempted to bowl an inswinger wide off the off-stump. Again, Bhuvneshwar was decent in the third over with a few opportunities coming for the opener’s dismissal.

But then came Bumrah in his 2nd over, and the end of India’s good start, that remained for only 4 overs. In just the second ball of the over, Bumrah took Fakhar Zaman’s wicket. But there it was! A smile on Fakhar Zaman‘s face.

A bit of luck that gets him going? This was the first delivery that Bumrah successfully bowled outside off stump to Fakhar Zaman and the batsman, who was kept calm with India’s leg stump lines, but he tried to break the shackles immediately and threw his bat at it. The ball was full and angled across and Fakhar Zaman got an outside edge that carried to Dhoni. But Bumrah’s first spell struggles had resurfaced after that, as he clearly overstepped.

Bumrah and wickets off no-balls are now a mandatory feature every once in a while. What followed was worse for Bumrah as he became slightly vulnerable while Fakhar Zaman grew in confidence after that as he leaked 12 runs in that over, with 3 extras and 2 boundaries. Bhuvneshwar tried to contain the damage in the next over but the openers had already found their rhythm as 8 were scored in the over.

Following Bumrah’s unfortunate incident, Twitter went berserk due to the bowler’s no-ball problem and had some mean, funny things to say.
