Here's a look at how Twitter reacted to this brilliant effort from Jaydev Unadkat.
Jaydev Unadkat’s heroics with the ball have been well appreciated this season but his chronicles on the field surprised one and all. It was only a few days back when he took a blinder against the Kings XI Punjab to dismiss Rahul Tewatia at short fine-leg. He followed it up with yet another supreme effort in the IPL finals today against the Mumbai Indians.
Unadkat is a part of an electric fielding outfit of the Rising Pune Supergiant. The team has some of world’s best fielders in their ranks with the likes of Steve Smith, Anjinkya Rahane, Dan Christian and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The Saurashtra lad who in the post-match presentation, stated that he holds a lot of pride in his fielding efforts.
Unadkat very boldly commented that it is not necessary for a fast bowler to be average in the field and therefore is creating a trend amongst the Indian ranks. In today’s match he yet again proved his credentials on the field as he dismissed Lendl Simmons, to dent Mumbai’s chances further in the finals.
Everybody expected a run-fest today as Simmons and Parthiv took guard against the likes of Unadkat and Thakur. However, it was not supposed to be as Unadkat gave a double-heart attack to the MI Paltan by dismissing both their openers in the 3rd over.
After Parthiv Patel lobbed a ball to mid-on and went back to the pavilion, Jaydev Unadkat used his guile to bowl an off-cutter to Simmons. The Trinidadian in an attempt to play towards mid-wicket only managed to find the leading edge of his bat. Unadkat, in his follow-through, going towards fine leg, changed his entire momentum and direction to grab hold of the ball to his left in front of the umpire.
The ball managed to stick in between his fingers and a jubilant Unadkat threw the ball in joy to complete the catch.
