Pakistan and Sri Lanka clashed against each other in what was viewed as the second quarter-finals from Group B after India took on South Africa yesterday. The Pakistan bowlers absolutely dominated the Sri Lankans but in the process, Sarfraz Ahmed was involved an incident through which his integrity can be questioned. As a result, Twitter showed no mercy on the skipper of the men in green.

Presently, in the Champions Trophy, it is a battle in between the English and all the Asian sides. Bangladesh and India have already qualified by overhauling top sides such as Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are currently locking horns against each other at Cardiff to determine who would play the home side on the 14th of June in the first semi-finals.

After taking early wickets, Sri Lankan opener Niroshan Dickwella and skipper Angelo Matthews stitched a valuable partnership before a flurry of wickets took the game away from the island nation. Sri Lanka lost as many as 4 wickets in quick succession, as they found spells from Mohammad Amir and Junaid Khan too hot to handle. Asela Gunaratne took strike against Amir in a dream spell.

Unable to read the swing of the ball, Gunaratne nicked one and it appeared as the wicketkeeper, Sarfraz Ahmed grabbed a beauty to his right. Amir started celebrating the wicket but stopped abruptly after seeing Sarfraz Ahmed unsure about the catch. The captain signalled to the umpire to review the catch to the third umpire.

However, as it turned out from camera angle behind the keeper, the ball clearly popped out in front of his gloves and the man at slips was the prime witness of the incident. Still, Sarfraz Ahmed advised the umpire to ask the third umpire for a review of the catch. As a result, his integrity was questioned especially looking at the Pakistan cricketing culture.
