After initial reports that surfaced earlier in the day of Ravi Shastri being named as the head coach of the Indian team, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s acting secretary, Amitabh Chaudhary squashed the reports that confirmed his appointment.
Hours later on the same day, BCCI’s acting president CK Khanna has confirmed that Team India would be under the tutelage of the trio of Ravi Shastri, Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid. Ravi Shastri has picked up the top-job of the head coach, while former left-arm seamer Zaheer Khan has been appointed as the bowling coach for the National team.
On the other hand, the role of the right-handed middle-order batsman Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the batting consultant for the foreign tours, with Dravid already the coach of the U-19 and the ‘A’ team. It was long due for the announcement of the head coach, with a few reports earlier in the month suggesting that right-handed top order batsman Virender Sehwag would be named as the head coach, with close competition from the Australian Tom Moody.
Ravi Shastri, the sudden winner in the race to the top job:
Ever since then, tables have turned, and it is the former Indian Team director Ravi Shastri, who has become the favourite to the top job. The Indian all-rounder in his previous stint as the Indian Team director has won the hearts of the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who’s vote would have directly or indirectly decided the two-way battle.
The left-arm seamer Zaheer Khan has been given the role of bowling coach, after spending some quality time with the left-arm spending some quality time working under the guidance of Rahul Dravid at Delhi Daredevils.
While a few sections of people on Twitter have trolled the decision of making Shastri has the head coach, it has shown immense appreciation for the appointment of Zak and Rahul Dravid:

Unnecessary confusion as Kohli saying that the new coach is BC Shastri while BCCI saying it's Ravi Shastri.
