In the ongoing Test match between India and Windies, Cheteshwar Pujara stunned everyone as he came up with a unique idea to counter the excessive heat in his home city. The right-handed batsmen, who came to bat as a virtual opener in the first over, took it upon him to attack a below-par bowling attack.

To everyone’s surprise, he was attacking and played with a strike-rate higher than his usual pace in Test matches. Though it was too cumbersome to play in such extreme conditions, Pujara came up with his own way to play in his familiar territory. He resorted to batting with a small water bottle in his pocket. It was peculiar to see him doing that, as even commentators were left awestruck to see his creativity in avoiding to waste time between overs.

Pujara scores 86 runs

Cheteshwar Pujara looked in full control during his stay in the middle. Playing at his home ground, India’s new wall looked at ease and made sure that his team gained an upper hand despite losing KL Rahul early in the innings. He stitched a partnership of 206 runs along with the debutant Prithvi Shaw who was playing some scintillating shots at the other end.

Even Pujara wasn’t much behind as he punished the toothless bowling attack of the opposition. The spinners Devendra Bishoo and Roston Chase were expected to control the run-flow but they bowled too many bad deliveries, as India’s number three played some delightful strokes.

He was well set to notch up his 16th century in the format but got out to a loose delivery off the debutant Sherman Lewis on 86. There was a hundred for the taking but the local boy missed out. Nevertheless, his knock helped Team India gain control on the first day of the Test match.

Twitterati though was impressed with the unique idea he came up with of keeping a water bottle in his pocket which kept him fresh even in the sapping heat.
