Twitter lashes out at Hardik Pandya for his poor show with the willow
He could only muster 11 runs during his brief stay in the middle.
The second Test match between India and England is currently in progress at the iconic Lord’s. The first day has been completely washed out and most parts of the second day has also been wasted. But the hosts have made sure that they stay on top in whatever action has taken place so far on the 22 yards. The visitors have continued to struggle in the seaming conditions and the latest one to go back into the hut was Hardik Pandya.
The sun came out in the final session and some brilliant work by the groundstaff meant that the play began soon after the rain stopped. The duo of Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli came out to bat and denied England a wicket for almost an hour. But the introduction of Chris Woakes into the attack changed things dramatically as he started moving the ball a lot. He scalped Virat Kohli first to dent all the hopes of India of posting a decent total after which Pandya walked in to bat.
Woakes squares up Pandya
A lot of eyebrows were raised after the management promoted Hardik Pandya but it felt like an aggressive move. The youngster though looked nervous as he inside-edged a couple of deliveries and then was dropped in the slips as well. But Woakes had his redemption straight away off the very next ball as it pitched on leg-stump and swung away from the batsman.
Hardik had no idea of what was happening and played with hard hands only to be caught in the slips by Jos Buttler. Twitterati was already unhappy with the way Indians have been batting in this match and Pandya failure literally triggered them. He could only muster 11 runs with a couple of streaky boundaries and definitely looked ordinary during his brief stay in the middle.
They lashed out at him for his continuous failures and his place in the team has come more under the scanner now. Ravi Ashwin and Rahane are out in the middle for the visitors and things are looking very bleak for them.
