Twitter lashes out at Ravi Ashwin after he mocks CSK following their loss in the Final
Ashwin's KXIP was knocked out after the round-robin stage.
At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) played their eighth final in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 12. The MS Dhoni-captained team lost to the MI by a mere one run and thereby grassed the chance of getting their hands on the coveted IPL trophy for the fourth time.
Mumbai, led by Rohit Sharma, could only manage 149 runs in their 20 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Quinton de Kock and Rohit got their team off to a blistering start, but regular wickets meant that MI couldn’t post a par or above total. Towards the end, Kieron Pollard scored 41 runs off 25 deliveries with three fours and as many sixes.
While defending 150, the Mumbai bowlers got under the skins of most of the CSK batsmen. However, one man by the name of Shane Watson kept them at bay. He scored 80 off 59 balls and got out in the last over to veteran fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who also bowled the over with nine runs required. In the end, Malinga dismissed Shardul Thakur on the last ball to end the game in favour of the Mumbai team.
Ravi Ashwin mocks CSK
Ravi Ashwin, a former CSK player himself was awestruck by the quality of cricket on display. Ashwin congratulated the Mumbai franchise and also wrote that luck wasn’t in favour of CSK and MS Dhoni. He took to Twitter and wrote. “Ohhhhhgreat game of cricket. Well done to @mipaltan and @ImRo45. Bad luck to @ChennaiIPL and @msdhoni,” Later, he deleted the tweet.
Ashwin was a part of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), who looked promising from every aspect, however, couldn’t progress to the playoffs. Ashwin played all the 14 round-robin games and could only pick up 15 wickets at an economy of 7.27 and best bowling figures of 3/23.
As far as his tweet is concerned, it didn’t go down well with the supporters by any means. Subsequently, the fans lashed out at him for mocking the Super Kings and Dhoni.
