The first day of the ongoing Perth Test between Australia and India is interestingly poised. After picking four quick wickets, the visitors have been kept at bay by Shaun Marsh and Travis Head. The duo has added more than 50 runs so far but not before being reprieved by the wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant off Hanuma Vihari. Marsh was dropped on 29 by Pant as he failed to grab on to an easy chance.
The incident took place in the 67th over of the innings when the left-handed Australian batsman tried to go hard at the short ball. After leaving a plethora of deliveries outside the off-stump, Marsh felt a little bit of pressure and went for the cut shot. But he was a tad late on it as Vihari was mixing his pace superbly. Beaten with the pace, Marsh edged the ball and it thudded into Pant’s gloves who wasn’t expecting it.
The weight of his body was backwards even as the red cherry popped out of his gloves and the catch was grassed. Rishabh Pant tried to catch it on the rebound but his balance wasn’t there and a chance went begging for Team India.
Nervous Pant goes quite
There was a cry of anguish from the other close-in fielders as the catch was dropped of the man in-form for the home side. Shaun Marsh was certainly looking good and his wicket would’ve changed the dynamics of the game big time. Knowing the consequences, Pant has visibly gone quite behind the stumps. He was constantly in the ears of the batsmen when Vihari was bowling before the incident took place.
Soon after the catch was dropped, he got nervous and isn’t talking much now. Meanwhile, the social media is not at all happy with the youngster as the Indian fans have started to lash out at him Pant for his shoddy wicket-keeping. Many have advised him to concentrate on his game instead of talking behind the stumps and it will be interesting to see if it affects his batting as well.

With his speaking skills behind the stumps, he must work on his catching skills as well #RishabhPant. #INDvAUS @Channel7 @cricketaakash @ESPNscorecard @ESPNcricinfo

Rishabh pant, focus on your wicket keeping not on sledging… Remember you keeping is worse than kamran akmal #AUSvsIND @RishabPant777

#RishabhPant is such a mediocre wicket keeper.
